Does anyone on here like/ cheer on all four of these boxers when they fight non-Brits? The Haye/ Degale thread got me thinking that once you get past a certain level as a fighter you seem to attract a fair amount of hate on here. The Haye backlash certainly seems to have got underway compared to attitudes about him last year.
Haye, Calzaghe and Khan yes **** Hatton. It's not really a personal like although I take the **** on occasion, it all stems from his style which is not boxing. That just ranks above everything for me, if I don't actually enjoy watching a fighter it transcends nationality, even if he was Icelandic I'd hate the ugly-to-watch wanker. What makes it even worse is he thinks he's exciting and compares himself to JCC etc atsch 3/4 ain't bad, and I can't think of anybody else I wouldn't support.
i personally dont liek hatton. his style is boring and his peronallity bores me even more. he also chats **** all day long, like vegas being cheaper than new york!!!! you have a point though Gaz, basicly 90% of the guys on this forum hate on fighters, especially Khan, so that if they loose they can say "i told you so" and they support the underdogs for the same reason. its probs the only thing that annoys me about esb.
I cheer on just about every British boxer and always against non domestic opponents. I still support JC even though he is a bit of a ***** but I would always support him against a guy like B-Hop or the drug cheat he faces next. I was torn when he fought Kessler but stayed loyal. Hatton bothers me at the moment. I like the bloke at times but would probably laugh if he lost to Malinfaggi. I dislike Khan. I hope he loses every time he fights. Haye is a total nob head but kinda cool still and very entertaing. I will keep on supporting him and hope he does well. Although if it was not for all the "I'm Welsh and shag sheep stuff" that Enzo Mac kept banging on about in the build up to the last fight I may have sided on Enzo's side. Enzo seemed a genuine good decent guy.
Go for it. Worst comes to the worst I've wasted your time Criticising blatantly crap matchmaking is quite different to hating. To be honest, I'd say the apologist attitudes that the like of you carry are more inline with a haters, as your ideology sees him starched inside 5 rounds against a good fighter I wish him all the best though.
I like to see British boxers do well but it doesn't bother me greatly if they lose either. Haye's career is getting exciting now whereas I couldn't care less about the other three boxers next fights.
Haye - used to detest him, got more time for him now he has backed his big mouth up. Hatton - Not bothered either way. Calzaghe - Support him and have for a long time. Khan - I liked him at first, but his boasting and Warren's matchmaking have turned me off.
depends who they were fighting. none of them would get my unconditional support. i'd support khan if he was fighting someone world class like diaz etc but would like one of his handpicked opponents to knock him out. haye i'd support against any top 10 hw. hatton i wouldn't support against a genuine exciting opponent like pacman calzaghe - not arsed
He is comparable to Julio Cesar Chavez........ He may be SHITE by comparison But there is still reason to compare them :hi:
Nonsense, I think that theres no rush in him stepping up in class at 21, you think thats bad for his career and thats fair enough but your thinking on how his career should be handled hasn't been demonstrated to be any better or worse that the way I think it should go forward. Its just as possible your way sees him starched in 5 rounds against a good fighter.
Nah, its less possible, very simple logic here. Gradual steps up to a world title shot ironing flaws out along the way = Giving yourself the best chance Fighting can after can with no noticeable step up between them = Guaranteed failure He will likely fail either way with that chin regardless, only his chances are going from slim to nothing. We can't even say this Prescott guy is better than Willie Limond, infact I'd be suprised if he is. That isn't sensible progression.
I agree with those statements, you're purposefully misrepresenting my view. I just don't see whats the problem with a 21 year old taking a few (or as many as they see fit within reason) extra gradual steps? You seem to want the acid test immediately, "sink or swim" was the exact phrase you used, theres just no need for that attitude with a 21 year old fighter.
