comparing khan to hatton and calzaghe who've had there careers while khan is just starting his is a little unfair

its better to compare them all at 21 after 18 fights

Better still, compare them when they've retired.

Haye would get Khan out of there with one punch.

Hatton would hug Haye, whilst Calzaghe unleashes a barrage of slaps, referee Terry O'Connor would step in to wave off a bemused Haye.

Hatton would then beat the **** out of Calzaghe, showing that his time mixed in with world class boxers has given him the edge over a cherry picker like Calzaghe.

Hatton, Haye and Khan I have no problem rooting for, but I just can't bring myself to support Calzaghe.

Calzaghe - I think he is a fantastic boxer with real world class skills but there is just something about him that I don't like.

Hatton - Hattons style doesn't really appeal to me, its a bit agricultural for my taste, but I shout for him anyway even though he can be an annoying ***** at times.

Haye - Haye has my full support until he doesn't back up his mouth with action....I suspect that he will and it will be a real rollercoaster of a trip.

Khan - I don't understand all the flack that Khan gets. True, he does spout **** most of the time but it has the stamp of Warren all over it. Amir isn't the sharpest knife in the box and wouldn't open his mouth without uncle Frank giving the go-ahead first. He is only doing what fighters through the ages have done and that is to big themselves up.

Hattons last fight was a very enjoyable fight. The clichés work until confronted with fact.

Anyway... the way I feel about these fighters right now... and who I back...

Calzaghe: I have backed him in the past but I want Roy Jones to knock him out. Avoiding the Pavlik fight was the final straw for me - though I have never been a huge fan of Joe's.

I find his high work rate - high volume (pretend punching - cuffing) - style of boxing - tedious. I have enjoyed a few of his fights; but on the whole I find him unsatisfying to watch. I find it hard to get behind a boxer who you know is never ever going to knock anybody out - as they simply lack nowhere near the power to do so. Lack the power to even buzz an opponent to any degree.

A boxer lacking any power, or ability to punch straight properly - is a turn off for me. Having stated that other attributes can more then make up for such deficiencies - and increase my viewing pleasure. Of those other attributes - Joe is not a slick boxer, nor is he scientific in defence or offence. He fails for me there as well. I am speaking here about how much pleasure, and entertainment I derive from watching him - not how good or bad a boxer I think he is.

I very much fear that his resume path will provide a blue print to Greatness for future British boxers. This would be terrible for British boxing, imo. It looks like Kahn is already going down this path.

Out of all the main British boxers (including Kahn, and Haye) - Joe comes out with the most contradictory, ludicrous, and arrogant statements out of the lot. To be fair, he is better then he used to be. He used to be very arrogant in his youth. Who on earth would proclaim themselves better then Lennox Lewis after beating Tocker Pudwill? Joe did! Strangely, unlike the others Calzaghe is allowed to get away with such nonsensical hogwash.

For these reasons, and most of all (by far the greatest aspect of me wishing him to lose): The fact that he will be viewed as an ATG on the back of a resume that simply doesn't warrant it (a non ATG standard resume through his own doing as well). I worry that other boxers will see it, and think that this is the way forward - and in consequence avoid the huge fights boxing so needs. Because of these things I want Jones to beat Joe!

Hatton: I was gutted when he lost to Mayweather. I'm not really a big fan, but that fight was HUGE! My main support for him now is that it's obvious that a lot have jumped ship (due to the loss) - and are simply laying the boot in. I want Hatton to win as I think he has one of two huge fights still in the pipeline. The man is willing to take the big fights - I respect that.

Haye: If he wins - good stuff. If he gets his head knocked off - good stuff.

Kahn: I want him to win, but I am largely indifferent about him at the moment. I just feel he will keep ticking along whatever.

    Personaly I wouldn't call Joe a slickster.

Haye has some technical grounding, and it shows when he boxes imho. Some of it may well have come from his time in the amateurs where he gained a World Amateur silver medal there. Personally I wouldn't say he lacked technique - and was totally unrefined. In fact out of the big three - Hatton, Calzaghe, and Haye - you could argue that Haye is perhaps the most textbook.

I am telling you if Haye had a lighter punch, say punched as heard as Hobson. his speed, timing, reflexes and boxing skills would still be enough for him to be a world champion.

I like Hatton a lot, I don't think he is the most talented boxer in the world, but he can fight and is always entertaining, I just hope he can get a few more wins against big names on his resume so it is worthy of his massive popularity, that said, it seems a lot of Hatton fans don't really know much about anything.

Haye, tired of hearing his opinions on everything, the guy thinks he is a big shot, because he beat Enzo and runs a small fish promotions stable. He needs to actually start fighting at HW, and try and keep the inane chatter at a minimum until he has actually achived something. :bbb

Calzaghe, the real deal, great fighter, hope he adds with over RJJ and Pavlik to shut some of his doubters up.

Khan, I like him as a person - he isn't that arrogant, is just a bit young, and therefore naive, but I really resent him being put on PPV and being marketed by Warren as something he is not (I.e elite fighting for a world title). As a boxer, I'm not sure, I think he might get found out if/when he does step up.

If a boxer is British, then I'm more inclined to be a fan, but if he is a bit of a wanker like Haye, then it doesn't really matter what passport he holds.

I think the respective detail in your response to each fighter is representative of how much manlove you have for them.

I think 99% of people his age are arrogant little shits, I know I was. Add an Olympic silver medal and loads of money and people telling him how great he is, and its hardly a surprise is it?

Haye- probably my favourite active boxer

Calzaghe- I've been a fan for a long time now

Hatton- tolerable; not very interesting to watch but I think he tends to get underrated

Khan- I expected nothing and Khan has delivered it in abundance

Hardly man love. Joe's just the only one I feel particularly opinionated about (either way) at the moment.
