How does Canelo come in at the same weight as the first fight and yet look smaller? In fact, Atlas said clearly Canelo is smaller and I would agree, he does look smaller. How can this be? He weighed in at the same weight but is smaller.

Is it due to the fact that he is more hydrated this time? Whereas last time he was severely dehydrated and put on a ton of water weight after the weigh-in?

Are people just making more out of Canelo's appearance due to the clenbuterol test failures? Or is it due to the fact that it is such a big fight? Maybe he is no different than last time and we are simply making too much of his appearance.

I just don't understand how he can look smaller yet be the same weight. Can anyone explain this?

He has got less muscle mass now but the reason why its same weight is because of water weight and fat deposits

In the first fight he had higher percentage of muscle mess and less water/fat now he has lower muscle mass higher percentage of water/fat

The obvious simplistic answer is that he was hydrated at this weigh in, however there might be other factors, we await others opinions.

There's a difference between ripped and dangerously dehydrated. The biggest difference though, will not be seen at the weigh-in but on fight night as he will not be able to rehydrate to the same extent.

He looks more shredded in this fight so how can he be just as heavy?

So I guess the consensus is he will appear smaller in this fight because he can't rehydrate to the size he was last time? If that is the case, even though he is smaller due to less water weight, wouldn't that make him more effective in the ring since his body will not be taking on all that water weight?

It would seem to make sense that he will not be as strong and powerful this fight but he will be in better shape to move and not get gassed. This would seem to indicate he will be on his bicycle even more this time.

The body needs a certain amount of water to be healthy. It's not that he stripped away unnecessary water weight, boxers take things to the very limit of dangerous to make weight - and Canelo has pushed this to extremes in the past to be big at the weight - so adding back water weight is not going to detrimental, the opposite in fact. The human body can be as much as 60%+ water and that varies person-to-person.

I agree, being lighter might making him faster - it could be to his benefit. But the difference between his chemically-assisted approach and a clean one is the extremes of weight cutting and rehydration will be lesser this time, making him smaller when he enters the ring. That's my take, anyway...

*GGG on the other hand looked healthy and relatively hydrated to me.

    Its in everybody’s heads.

I would absolutely guarantee that his muscle mass and body fat is near identical to the first fight. This is a fact as he is clearly the exact same weight and you can also clearly see his body fat is almost identical to the first fight, he doesn’t have a gut!

It’s all in people’s minds because he’s a PED cheat.

The mind is powerful, if you want to believe something, you will. But, in this case it’s all fake news.
