    Just curious.

Yes, I know Mayweaether didn't make the 144 limit and came in at 146.

But in hindsight, Mayweather's fight night weights are only ever 150-153ish, while Marquez is generally 148ish.

And it's not like Mayweather used his size in that fight AT ALL. He just straight up boxed him to death for 12 rounds.

Does this win become more legitimate?

Nothing. That was still a bs fight. First the styles were all wrong. Both are counter punchers and Marquez ended up going out of his game and being an aggressor. Second big size disparity. Marquez's style and size are all wrong for Mayweather. He can't land anything to hurt Floyd, and he can't defend against Floyd, one sided fight.

Mayweather didn't even try to honor the weight limit, which is odd sense he always comes in under. I think he did that on purpose to show team Marquez their penalty demand was a joke.

Of course it does, Mayweather completely outboxed & shutout the same (or worse since he`s 2 yrs older) version of Marquez that just beat (in most people`s eyes) Manny Pacquiao.

Those that refused to give Mayweather credit pointed to the weight Marquez fought at, saying he couldn`t be as effective at WW, well he was pretty effective vs Pac last saturday night, after seeing just how capable JMM is at this weight, it shows just what a masterful boxing exhibition Mayweather put on vs JMM... 12-0 is no joke vs someone of Marquez calibre, that performance deserved major props... even before the JMM-Pac fight.

    Thanks for your opinion.

What are your thoughts on a JMM at 130 vs a Floyd at 130?

I still personally see it as a wide decision for Mayweather, like 117-111 (9 rounds to 3).

This is how I see it.

Fight night weights would have been 6 pounds at the most, and Mayweather didn't use size in that fight AT ALL.

I see a similar result if both were at 130 pounds, with Marquez winning maybe 3 round instead of 0.

    Personal opinion of course.

No problem with your opinion, but do you have a reason why?

And I'd be interested in your opinion on a fight between the 2 if they were both 130 pounds.

At 130 much more competive, being that Mayweather was more spindly then, however I agree with your score. Mayweather would force Marquez to be the aggressor which makes him weaker. I watched live when Marquez walked down Gainer no problem (ironically on a Mayweather undercard), but I don't think it's he'd walk down Floyed. Of course, 130 was Floyd's brittle hand days...

For starters, why should it do anything anyway? That's what I want to know. JMM vs. Pac has already happend twice, with virtually the same results. So a third, with virtually the same results, really hasn't changed anything has it?

Also, Floyd doesn't give fight night weights, so not sure HOW you get those other then a guess.

But that said, Pac and JMM were always much closer in size then Floyd is with either Pac or JMM. I know people want to say "Pac's a WW!!", but one must still look at his size honestly.

Floyd vs JMM at 130, I'm sure Floyd still wins. But at least they would be the same size. It would mean more.

    :good

Thanks. Good to get proper legitimate replies on here.

Wasn't Floyd's fight night weight against Ortiz 152? And when he weighed in at 150 for Dela Hoya, I'm pretty sure his fight night weight was 148 (!). Don't know how he lost 2 pounds.

    150 vs Ortiz
152 (according to the Ring) vs Marquez
