JMM is a very smart and technical fight, its just that Mayweather is
much the same himself - only faster, smarter with more talent.

Mayweather counterpunches, but also dictates the pace to suit
himself - as he done against Marquez, I dont think the extra 2lbs
really had that much effect on the result.

I almost wish that JMM Mayweather would have a rematch now as I think it would be alot closer than their 1st fight. He looked alot more comfortable thios time out with the weight. I still think he will lose but at least win a few rounds. He seemed faster in this last outting and alot steadier . Given He has Pacs number , but I also dont see Floyd Pitching a shutout again like last time. But at this stage in his career a rematch is unlikely even though I think he Def beat Pac this time out. Err back to the question asked in the thread. I think the win basically stays the same. Still a great victory but I thibk it would have been alot closer had Marques had a few fights to adjust t0o the weight and mayweather had honored his end of the weight himself. Mayweather sticking to his weight as agreed and the JMM that fought Manny would at the very least be a little more co mpetetive I think, say 116 / 112 Mayweather.

But Mayweather could, he knocked Marquez down and Marquez was visibly hurt. He should have finished him.

How many of those fighters that are natural welters could have Marquez really beaten that night?

You take one fighter away from his element completely and its easy for another to shine, so I am not impressed when one guy does what he is supposed to do, given all the advantages.

It doesn't mean ****. Styles make fights. It took FMJ 10 rounds to ko Hatton, while Pac did it in two.

JMM was a slow, bloated mess against MAY.

Last weekend's fight shows that Marquez can still be good enough to arguably beat Manny Pacquiao.

Styles make fights, but now you can't say Mayweather's win over Marquez is not important. It has become important. I would put it in Mayweather's Top5 wins.

It shows that Mayweather is on a much higher level than anyone at 147, including Pac.

For Floyd...it's picking on a LW.
For Manny...it's his toughest fight (that sends him to the turnbuckle crying and praying for the victory after the fight).

Styles make fights. But, I don't give Manny a 50/50 shot at beating Floyd, at this point. More like 80/20 Floyd, after their most recent fights. Floyd's style would be a big problem for Manny, I think...even moreso after seeing Marquez have so much success with his right hand, while neutralizing Manny's left hand.

they could both weigh the same thing thing on fight night and fact remains 3 years ago JMM was fighting for a WBO featherweight title in his 13th year as a pro while 3 years ago FMJ was a welterweight (coincidentally) tats why they have weight divisions and JMM was at least 2 on paper behind mayweather having never fought at 140 or 147 pounds EVER....

While its true that styles make fights, its skills that determine fights and Mayweathers skills has been the determing factor in all his fights.

    Compare Pac/Hatton with Void/Hatton and

Pac/Oscar, Void lost to Oscar, even the criminal judges had it a split decision for Void, Pac stopped Oscar!!!

Pac/Cotto, oh..........Void refused to fight Cotto and Margarito.

Pac/Mosley, compare the damage Pac did to Mosley with Void's, Void came very close to getting knocked out!

Taking advantage of your reach is skill.

Under the contract signed, he did not HAVE to dehydrate to 144 but the contract encouraged him to or he would lose money.

He wasn't a giant, Marquez has no idea how much he weighed. Look at mythbusters, two guys who would probably have great knowledge in determining a weight by looking at it, AND holding it.

They had two objects and were both FAR off.

Floyd likely weighed the 152 as the Ring stated. Many people thought he looked "bigger" than Ortiz, only to be 15lbs lighter.

Floyd is the better fighter, took his advantages and capitalized on them.

FFS of course reach isn't skill but using it properly is. :patsch
