Provided he was given 4 full months to train and get in whatever shape he was capable of getting into?

Serious question, I guess spurred by watching that video of him teaching Wilder. I know he's old and has been retired for several years now. But to me, all he needs is to be able to get back a fair amount of stamina, and that alone would make him a serious threat to Wilder, Price, and Mitchell.

Any thought? Am I being ridiculous here? :huh

He'd beat all those guys you listed with little to no training

He couldn't beat anyone of any renown. He's 47 years old.

:think Something tells me you're actually serious about that statement.

I don't like to overdo it when rating guys who have already retired, but I thin you might be right. Lennox Lewis, even with his flaws looks like an unstoppable wizard next to most of these guys nowadays.

I know his age. What is there to make anyone believe he is anymore over the hill at 47 than Bog George was at 46? I'm not saying he could become champ, but if he actually dedicated himself, I could see him tatooing all of the guys I mentioned, PLUS a few more...

Are you kidding me? he's been out of the ring for almost 10 years now and his approaching 50. If he wanted to make a decent comeback he'd have to get back into fighting shape then face a few bums and journeymen to gauge how much his abilities have regressed and to see what impact he could make on the division if any...

When Foreman started his comeback he wasn't 47... and he spent a few years fighting journeymen and hasbeens before making a significant step up. so yes he is more over the hill than foreman was at 46... Foreman had also been active for years and not out of the ring for a decade at that point.

Larry Holmes was able to use technique alone at the age of 54 to beat butter bean. and by the looks of the skill level of these guys they would be lucky to make to the second round against LL.

Butterbean was a glorified club fighter who never beat anybody worth of note. his best wins are over journeymen like Peter McNeeley and Louis Monaco....

So you think Price, Wilder and Mitchell would beat Lennox after he's had 4 months to train?

We just have to agree to disagree here. Now I'm not saying he'd make an impact on the division or be any type of contender, but I think he runs through quite a few fighters that we discuss here all the time.

Vitali has always wanted to rematch Lewis, but Lewis retired instead. Lewis' had a very badly broken nose and would have been knocked out in the very next round. Vitali Vs. Lewis now would sell big, but Lewis is still to afraid. Lewis knows he would get knocked out.

People shouldn't even go there unless the man actually would be planning a comeback.
He's 47 years old and he did not keep himself in shape and active after the decline started a decade ago, so he probably shouldn't even try.

his experience and technique would let him win over 3rd tier fighters, but against anyone with decent conditioning and power he could get hurt for no reason, 10 years out of the ring is a very long time, it's best that he retired when he did, while he was still on top, and not ruining his legacy like RJJ or Holy

I'm not saying he SHOULD try. I'm just wondering if anyone believes, like me, that he could actually beat some fighters.

I might be inclined to agree with Damian38, that 3rd-tier or "C" level fighters are probably his limit. But who do we consider "C" level is the better question. Again, I have to pull out my 3 usual suspects...

Price would get mauled by anyone who has the skill to avoid and withstand 2-3 Rounds of the threat from his right hands. We already see the fact that Deontay just doesn't have the skill to even think about going against him. And Mitchell??:lol::lol: Poor Mitchell.
