Both would have schooled Margarito. In fact I'm not 100% sure that in 2006 even Baldomir wouldn't have stood a chance to beat Margarito in a welterweight unification. Baldomir had an iron chin, taking away Margarito's usual "in" (being able to hurt opponents under a deluge of heavy-handed blows). On work rate you have to favor Margarito but it wouldn't be a foregone conclusion. Baldomir could well land the higher % and even with his feather-dusters manage to land some eye-catching shots on the defensively irresponsible Margarito. Remember, Clottey gave Margarito hell and was pitching a near shutout before his injury when they fought (a short time after Mayweather vs. Baldomir); a younger, fresher, undefeated Clottey had dropped a few rounds (though he was up on the cards) when he got disqualified against Baldomir...

    Cotto is a natural 140lber.

    Also he is Puerto Rican.

When you're from that island, talented as you may be, that 'fragility" stigma follows you. :yep

Williams had to throw well over a 1000 punches to finally beat Margarito.

Floyd retired for a reason. Margo was all wrong for him.

ROFL They didn't think so or they'd have rushed to fight him
Oscar bragged he wanted the winner of Cotto - Margarito as his final hurrah but rapidly changed his mind when he saw what Margarito did to0 Cotto. Instead the coward got Paquaiod ROFL
Floyd was scared silly & the proof of that is on the U Tube video

Did you not even read what you quoted?

The highly economical (not just against Pacquiao in Dallas) Clottey won a bunch of early rounds off Margarito, fairly easily, blocking on the high turtle shell and landing pot shot counters, before he injured himself.

Why would they have rushed to fight him, he was unknown had the worthless WBO, and wouldnt bring any real upswing to either resume.. So, i'm missing it, i guess. He ducked him cause you think Margarito wwouldve given him fits. lol. You crack me up

    you are correct

You are correct Tony did lose 3 fights early on in his career BUT he was a kid of 15/16 yrs old fighting grown men seasoned fighters He had no manager not even a real trainer he was fighting to feed his family. He was thrown in with the wolves
When you look at Tony's record disregarding those he really only lost twice legitimately A close fight with Paul Williams , Goosen refused to entertain a rematch, and the loss to Paquaio.
No way in hell can you honestly class Mosely & Cotto II losses
Tony was beaten before he ever got in the ring against Mosely who was juiced to the gills. The NY doctor won the Cotto fight for him. The name of the other guy that had supposed wins over Tony whos name escapes me were on cuts caused by flagrant intentional headbutts. So really his record is stellar

If Chino, who is a poor mans Margarito, gave Floyd problems, Tony might kill him.

I called Oscar a coward Call me an idiot if you want but I heard Oscar say that he wanted the winner of Cotto-Margarito as his final fight to go out with a big win. When he saw what Tony did to Cotto his cojones shrank & he ducked out.
He got his due deserts when Manny Paquio cleaned his clock for him though ROFL

Mayweather was 8 years older and stood in the pocket when he fought Maidana. Start watching a few Mayweather fights my friend, he has feasted on plodders that fight in Tony's style..

I said a lot more than Margarito losing thrice early in his career. The only reason I brought that up was because it was as true of him as it was of Baldomir; they both had rocky starts and then put together roughly ten or so meaningful performances by November 2006. (with Baldomir losing a few more times, mostly close split decisions, and Margarito getting spanked twice by Santos which I didn't even bring up)

Of their respective ten victories, Margarito's worse five are perhaps superior to Baldomir's worse five, but the more important upper half for Baldomir slays Margarito's upper half.
