See I remember the threads "Where will Wlad rank if he beats Haye???". I've said back then the jury was still out on Haye, if Wlad wins then the quality of that win will be determined by what Haye does after he loses to Wlad. And it turned out - as I expected - that Haye didn't do a whole lot after losing to Wlad. He won vs. Chisora and lost to Bellew twice. That doesn't exactly increase the value of his track record, quite to the contrary.

Now with Wilder the situation is the same. If AJ destroys Wilder, does Wilder then come back stronger, wins another belt, maybe holds it for 3-4 years and solidifies himself as a serious long-term champion? Or will Wilder mentally implode, start having financial and personal problems and never really get traction again.

The quality of AJ's potential win will only be fully revealed 5-6 years *AFTER* the fact.

    Holyfield
    Lewis
    Louis
    Ali
    Patterson
    Tyson
    Holmes
    Marciano
    W. Klitschko
    Foreman
    Dempsey
    Moorer
    Frazier
    Wills
    Charles
    Bowe

Would all still be above him after beating Wilder. I probably left some out too

He may, and probably will eclipse many of those, but he's not gonna be there just yet, after beating Wilder (if he does)

    You measure ATG on achievements.

Hes practically there now , a Wilder win puts him there bc of the belt he wins not exactly Wilder but it's another undefeated fighter.

There's hell of a lot of hall of famers not remotely on his level in anything at HW....why are they there ?

This is the problem with new era fans , ready to shoot down other era fighters.

The fact is simple and I dare anyone to show me a better resume at 19/20 fights that have had his run so far?

    Go ahead! Lol

Even top 30 is a stretch. What are his best wins? 41 year old Wlad? B-level Parker? Charles Martin?

Nowhere near being a top 10 ATG heavyweight, but he would be the current #1 heavyweight.

I don't give Joshua credit for beating Wlad, who was 41 years old, retired for almost two years, and coming off a loss. Plenty of people in the heavyweight division would've beaten that version of Wlad. This is the same Wlad, who in 2015 struggled with a scrub like Jennings, who he easily would've knocked out two years before.

He also didn't really put on a convincing performance against Parker, since that fight could've easily been a draw.

Joshua would need to knockout Wilder, Povetkin, and Tyson Fury as well as defend the Undisputed title about 15-20 times before I'd rank him as a top 10 ATG Heavyweight considering how weak the division is.

I think he's top 30 to be fair.

Unification via a win against Wilder would push him into the top 20

    Yep, I concur.

I am a big Joshua fan, think he's great for the sport and the division, big draw, looks the part, says the right things, usually exciting to watch, looks to want to fight the best ASAP, overall a great ambassador for the sport. But come on his resume even with Wilder is hardly outstanding. 1 faded ATG, 2 other world class wins with Parker and Wilder, that isn't a resume that stands out above many of those greats that have come before.

I get the temptation to bestow greatness on a fighter before their time, but for every Ali or Louis, there's a Bowe, a Liston, a Max Baer who didn't meet peoples expectations and lost the belt in shocking fashion. Joshua has surpassed expectations for the most part so far, but greatness is earned not just given.

How can there be a top 30 of atg or even 20 lol. A great is a once in a blue moon type fighter. Wlad is not an atg and probably neither is Tyson.

He's arguably not even the best current British HW, now that Fury's coming back.
