UFC fans tend to believe boxing is dead. They also believe that boxing is only a one dimensional type of fighting while UFC is the more "real" type of fighting and boxing will not work in a real fight.

on the other hand, Boxing fans tend to believe that MMA is an animal form of fighting. Also the likes of PBF believes that MMA are the lesser type of athelete citing that UFC has less rounds.

As far as real fighting, are UFC fans right? Are MMA atheletes not as well conditioned as boxer?

    let's discuss this objectively.

UFC fans are wrong, boxing is alive.

There are talented MMA fighters, but boxing will always be the sweet science (and not ******)

I watch boxing more but watch some MMA here and there. Although there are boring fights in both sports the ground fights in MMA are absolute snorefests and really awkward to watch imo.

only 3 replies and I received "how boring it is" comments. I appreciate the reply but lets be objective. I was asking if the UFC fans are correct with their claim that MMA is a more real type of fighting rather than boxing.

IMO, I really think boxing is more real because everyone throws punches and the average guy is not trained in any form of submission. Also, If a guy is quick enough, he can tag a guy lunging in for a take down.

    Probably not...especially here...

My point of view is that no one is better than the other. 2 different things.

The PBF comment is ridiculous. Ground fighting takes much more stamina...

    ANyway, i prefer boxing.

I prefer boxing and always will but MMA guys deserve their props. The main problem I have with it is that its such a new sport that the talent pool is very shallow... One thing is for sure is that the UFC isnt going to go anywhere its here for good!

I am a boxing man all the way! I cant stand mma fights when they go to the ground and grope each other. If they cant submit or pound out their opponent quickly it gets very boring. BUT, the best fight the best in mma and boxing could take a page out of that book and stop letting these boxers "duck" each other,

Please, stop posting these boxing versus MMA threads in the general forum. They are almost always trash and they always end up in the MMA forum.

The MMA forum goers don't put stupid threads in the general forum all the time, so why must we be subjugated to it?

There's great athletes, and crappy athletes in both sports. There's great fights, and crappy fights in both sports.
I'm more of a boxing fan. As for the first post saying how some people saying boxing is useless in a street fight LMAO! I bet if any normal person would rush in to me, and I saw it clearly...I bet I could hit them 3 good times, and that'd finish them off, or there pretty much done for.
I do think MMA is more useful in a street fight. Fists are important (if your good with them), but best to use forearms, and knees so you don't damage your hands. I always found many people aren't comfortable in-fighting without grabbing. Most people throw the hayemakers anyways, and if your face is 6 inches infront of theres...What they gonna do? I practice both personally just incase. Lift weights to keep power up, box 3 times a week, practice Muay Thai, and JKD twice a week. Run twice, swim twice, etc to keep the cardio up. For street fighting...Which is what most people are training for it's best to be able to do everything.
