Seriously did Tommy Fury really fight a guy with a 2-26 record ?

I dont get the hate tbh
He was used and paid to draw a non boxing audience to watch to increase viewership
    Im fairly certain that worked
He has to win to send them all away happy
    So why take a risk
It wasnt aimed at us so didnt offend me

I think the idea of a Love Island contestant being a pro boxer and seemingly getting fast tracked due to that and his family connections is what irks a lot of people. He's probably an alright lad, definitely not much going on between the ears and that's not because he's a good looking lad and I'm stereotyping, he just doesn't seem to have much character. You always want to see boxers be brought through the right way and this just seems a little weird and it's hard to take him seriously. Like you say, he was paid to do a job and he did it, draw viewers, win via stoppage and go nuts for the cameras, the fight his opponent put up almost makes you wonder though.

More power to him. He's a handsome *******, marketable now after Love Island and has the family name to have people take notice in the boxing world. He doesn't even have to be world class to make a few Bob

He won't make anything off of me that's for sure ,nor will I pay for the sort of mismatches Warren has just staged, I said 2 rounds and it was,If the ,"rabbit in the headlights," Japanese had stood his ground it would have been all over in the initial round. Disgraceful card imo.

He's the sort of guy Warren needs because, as you say, you can stick him on a card and people will tune in because he's a celebrity.

That said, he's not going to be any good, and he's got a pretty finite shelf life before he's yesterday's news.

I think Warren could get atleast a three years and a few headliners our of him. Pad him to 10-0 by next year. Then give him the Anthony Yarde route. By 2022 of Warren shoving him down our throats vs bin men the casuals will have left and he will have thousands of boxing fans waiting for him to get beat.

get him a very convenient WBO mandatory against Shafat Isufi’s cousin and there you have it Tommy Fury world champ!!

That’s true. Judging by how the rest of his family looks, even his most marketable assets his good looks and immovable hair will soon start to fade in the next few years so good luck to him to try and cash in while he can.

I don't think he'll ever be a World Champion because I seriously doubt he will be able to handle it when he is getting clocked by boxers that hit back. As said earlier, he can ride this train for a bit but people are going to want to beat him now to boost their own profile and he's not even top 10 British, he's an accident waiting to happen.

A lot of assumptions being made about his ability and character in this thread. Really, we don't know where he is or where he'll get to and won't for a few years yet. He's 20 years old and has the resources to train all year round and fight whenever he wants. Even if he's crap now he could make a lot of progress over the coming years. If he became British champion one day, wouldn't that be a brilliant achievement?
