Seriously, How Do You Quit IN A World Title Fight?................

Nah dawg, i agree with that decision, no one wants to get seriously hurt out there. Klitschko was just wayyy too good, and actually in the first fight he was getting hit alot too, but Wlad just inexplicably ran out of gas...

 

It was a good stoppage by his corner. I would have given him one more round, but it was obvious Brewster wasn't going to win that fight. He was just going to take more punishment. You don't want a guy coming off surgery of his left eye eating left jabs all night from a guy as strong as Wlad.

 

Chavez could have gave up after fighting taylor for 6 rounds too. Thank god he did not.

 

When there's a only a 10% chance of winning, and you're taking heavy punishment, quitting is the prudent thing to do. Preserving his body for his health and future paydays makes more sense for Brewster than taking an extended beating in order to win the 'respect' of casual fans.

Easy. How do to quit in a world title fight.

1. Get ass kicked with ease and have no chance at winning.

2. Not wanting to end up blind and partially brain dead.

3. Has a family that he wants to be able to talk to as he grows older with them instead of being punch drunk.

 

Brewster wanted to quit after the second round. He couldnt do anything. He only had one way to win, and he wasnt able to get inside, so basically he was a sitting duck to a guy who is a huge puncher.
If he wanted to continue, maybe he would have been able to get something done in the later rounds, but it was clear he was ready to quit.

 

It was a good stoppage, creds to the corner. Brewster didn't stand a chance and it would end anyway in a round or two.

 

Safety is still the main reason. I would rather have a bruised ego, than a smashed apart face.

 

Brewsters corner saved their fighter from serious damage. He took a lot of punishment that would have shipped most fighters, so credit to Brewster for that.

 

Yeah seriously. Who could possibly cheer for a fighter that quits?

 

Plus Brewster being Brewster, he would've kept on walking ahead taking those unprotected shots over and over if it'd continued anyway. At the very best he was looking at a shut-out, the guy was unable to do anything...so very good stoppage by the corner, McGirt deserves praise not derision.

 

The bout today reminded me of the Byrd match with how the fight was evolving, and we all saw how that turned out. Brewster's wife wasn't there screaming non-stop, so I had no urge to see the same thing happen to him.

Buddy made the right call, because the fight was going to get much uglier. You could see it in the last round when Wlad started opening up more.

 

Brewster said something like " i want to keep my mind right so that i can speak correctly to my kids down the line".
