Don't always believe fighters when they say they were not bothered by the other's punches. ESPECIALLY when they lose. Because they want to at least say they weren't hurt at all. Manny won so it's easier to say, yeah I felt his punches for him, he doesn't care, he won.

Maybe he wasn't really hurt, but he felt the body punches and whenever Manny landed a punch to the head. He gauged the power and realized if he opened up more he could be KO'd and didn't have the speed to keep up. Just giving a different perspective here. I'm not saying that's what happened.

My point was precisely that one does not have to be an expert at something to criticize experts. Otherwise no one other than professional athletes could ever make judgments about the performance of professional athletes. And that, clearly, is ****ing dumb.

i havent read this whole thread but i think he shouldve just gone balls to the wall in the second half of the fight. you fight to win... if he didnt think he was going to win and he knew he wasnt going to fight back then he shouldve just quit, no point being a human boxing bag

If this was clotteys best, then Pacquiao deserves little credit for fighting him :deal

would you blame a fireman for not wanting to go in a collapsing building? or a police officer to go into the middle of a gun fight?

clottey isn't a cotto/marquez/morales etc, thats what seperates the a and b level fighters, clottey is never going to be an A.

Um, yes, I would blame them for that. If firemen or police officers got to decide not to do things that were dangerous they wouldn't be worth much would they?

But still Clottey didn't even earn the right to be afraid. He left in better shape than the guy that beat him. That's a cowardly performance.

It's more about what Manny should have done than what Clottey should have done.

Pacquiao should stop ducking Mayweather. That's what Pacquiao can do.

Iron chin and all, Clottey would have been KO'd had he tried harder. Some say he should have gone out on his shield; but he choose the path that would get him to the finish line. I think he should have tried despite the risks, but it's really up to him obviously.

That doesn't make sense. It was the best he could do against Pacquiao; it doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't beat almost every welterweight in the world last night. Clottey is probably the fourth best welterweight in the world and I think he could have beaten Berto last night. Let's see how Clottey does in his next fight. You''d obviously always say that anyone Manny beats decisively can't be good because he looked so bad.

That means that you automatically cannot give Pacquiao credit for any good performance. So it's built into your logic that Manny can never impress you.

That's a reasonable criticism. Seems like if you get a shot this big (not that Clottey hasn't been in big fights before) you give it everything you have. But as the announcers mentioned, Ike Quartey was kind of like that as well.

A simple answer to your question sir.

He could have tried something different when he realized he needed to. Its only logical that when you realize you wont win with your current strategy you need to try a new one.

He could have tried to give more movement, as he was too stationary.

Control the fight with his jab.

Take and keep the fight inside.

Go for your own 7 punch combos when Pac is done his and needs to rest.

Low blow Pac to slow him down. Or lead with his head. I really dont care.

I know its all easier said then done. But anything else would have constituted an attempt to win some rounds.
