    How is it a joke?

Pavlik looked like **** against Martinez

Hes had problems with staph infection and alcoholism...

Why can't he take an easy fight? Its not like anyone is trying to see this as some kind of world title fight?

Its more of a "can pavlik still ATTEMPT to compete at world level, or will he get hurt trying?"

Are you seriously trying to imply that fighting Lopez is better than Andrade? Andrade is proven to be a solid top ten fighter, Lopez has done nothing. Let's look at things objectively here.

Not exactly, I'm just saying that I don't know much about Lopez. He has a decent record, and I've learned to not judge fighters just because I don't know him.

Do you know Lopez well enough to say with certainty? If so, please share.

Koing an unproven fighter that beats bums after bums after bums won't prove anything. If Pavlik ko Lopez, so what, how can you or anybody sit here and say Pavlik is back to old form? I think facing Andrade who hasn't beat a very good fighter (close with Bute) but is 1 dimensional and was ko badly by a body shot to Bute in the rematch. <<<So that could be a good comeback fight. Or what about facing Sam Soliman? Sam is also 1 dimensional and is a small fighter at smw but i bet he would have no problem facing Pavlik. <<Those kind of fights is better to show if Pavlik back to his old self. Beating a very unproven nothing Lopez don't mean sh4t imo.

  5. If Pavlik KOs Lopez it will give him a bit of confidence and a chance to shake off some ring rust. Call me a blind Pavlik fan if you like, I'll just call you a dumbass.

Raymond, all you are simply saying, unless you have some PROOF otherwise, is you would desire Pavlik to face a name fighter.

 Come on man. I'm cool with you but look at Lopez record again. I'm talking basically look his resumes of fighters he beat and you see his resumes is a joke. Andrade is a much better proven fighter that could be a good tune up for Pavlik.

So beating basically an unproven nothing Fighter will actually give him confidence? lol if you say so.

Ray it's obvious as **** first you just mad Boo made a thread period.:yep:deal

Second, you are after a name opponent, and you are conveniently leaving out that Pavlik is fighting on an undercard here. Are big name opponents gonna want to get that ass kicked for short change?

I mean seriously Ray, could it be this was the best opponent available for the budget being worked with?

Gomez is an unknown quantity right now, and if Pavlik thinks he's gonna walk right through him, he's probably gonna be upset.

Castillo was a relatively unknown quantity when he fought Stevie Johnson, and look what happened in that bout.

Pavlik has not had a fight in how long? And people are asking him to step right back in there with a top 10. Cmon folks, we don't even know if Pavlik could beat Buddy McGirt Jr at this point.

This is a decent bout considering he's returning from alcohol(and God knows what else) addiction, and a fairly tough L at the hands of Martinez.

If I am handling Pavlik, I gotta put him in there with someone I know has little pop and less than stellar chin, just so my guy can get a feel good win under his belt.

IMO Pavlik is still 2 or even 3 fights away from contention. That is if he's ever gonna be ready again.:deal

To be fair Pavlik has faced A LOT of personal demons since beating Taylor. I wouldn't mock him for taking this fight but he hasn't looked good his last few outings and personally I believe he is shot mentally. If he looks like pre-Hopkins Pavlik, they will know where to go from there. If not, well maybe time to call it a career.

I think this fight is more to see if he should still be fighting or to walk away and fix all his own personal demons.

I dont, and that's the point. You know nothing of Lopez, yet you suggested that fighting him would be more beneficial than fighting Andrade.
