And since he won in close fights vs 2 c minus fighters then don't you think Marquez would fight him already? lol.

Rios has the right promotion w/access to Soto.

  4. I actually think Soto and Marquez would be a classic war. They are both very sharp, accurate punchers. Will the fight be made? Probably not but we'll see.

When are you going to realise that Soto won't get a fight with Manny Pacquaio full stop that train has been and gone, he would have got the fight if he beat Guzman he didn't. And he won't get a fight with Marquez because Marquez has bigger fish to fry at this stage of his career and no one will push for that fight.

Other then Antillon, Soto has beaten sub 20 fighters since the Guzman schooling and in a lot of those fights he wasn't very impresive and in fact only won marginal decision those victories count for **** why would HBO or anyone else for that matter push for a Soto-Marquez fight and you need to realsie Marquez is with Golden Boy so that fight won't happen full stop.

If he beat and schooled Rios he would have a far better chance of getting a major fight as for the first time in years there would be genuine clamour to see him in with one of the p4p stars. Also a Barrera fight counts for ****, he doesn't have to play possum Barrera will fight or won't it doesn't matter how Soto looks.

Ive been a fan of Sotos since he upset Juarez for an interim belt and the champ never gave him a shot

he was avoided and never given his chance when the chance did come he lost a snoozer to Guzman in a fight where he tried but Guzman did everything to avoid a fight

Soto built up his record facing maybe not the best but tough guys he got dicked in his next title fight but won the rematch

he defended a few times couldnt get anybody to fight him

moved up again won another belt

though i dont know if Soto is good at 135 his power seems to have declined and he is having a harder time with his opponents

The 3 way possible match ups involving Soto Valero and Manny made sense a few yrs ago

Soto Valero made sense up until Valeros death

Manny could have fought Valero when Valero held a belt at 135 and Manny was champ at 140 but ppl were more interested in Manny fighting the big guys and try in vain vsFloyd

Soto Manny made the most sense right after Soto blasted Bobby

Manny was still 130 or 135 and hadnt bulked or juiced depending on how u look at it

The bigger Manny that filled out 147 nicely is way too big and strong for a Soto who struggles at 135

This fight made sense like in 06 or 07

It has nothing to do with Rios and everything to do with Top Rank. Soto and Rios are both with Top Rank. Acosta is with Don King and Marquez is with golden Boy (and never would fight Rios anyway at this stage in his career). Bob Arum would rather have the two top rank guys fight each other, so that way at least the victor is a viable moneymaker, than risk having Rios fight Acosta, who I reckon would beat Rios (and Soto at this point in his career) pretty badly.

Plus, it's looking like Antonio DeMarco might be named Soto's mandatory. I wouldn't like that if I were Bob Arum. While I think Soto is the much better fighter overall, a guy who boxes on the outside and has a five inch reach advantage isn't exactly the best style matchup for Soto.

Because Soto nearly lost to Antillon, and Rios fights just like Antillon, only younger, fresher, stronger and more relentless.

I think that has FOTY written all over it. Im a huge Soto fan and i wanna watch that. I actaully have a feeling Soto could take Rios. He is more versatile than Rios.

I agree, and I also think Soto fought a poor gameplan against Antillon. If he had stuck to what he was doing for the first three or four rounds instead of trying to trade, he probably would have beaten Antillon by a pretty wide decision. He just didn't have the conditioning for it.

But based on Azteca's previous comments, the only fight he has any interest in is Soto-Marquez, and he doesn't want to see any fight that might jeopardize the chances of that happening. Of course, Soto-Marquez ain't happening. Reality is that Soto just isn't well known enough, and since they both hold belts, they'll never be mandatories to face each other.

Marquez has not many options right now, since Pac is refusing a 3rd fight.
Since Marquez last fought he's been quiet and only mentions about fightint Morales.
When Marquez was being interviewed by ESPN DEPORTES, he was asked about a possible fight with Soto, and JMM changed the subject.
JMM has avoided Soto for the alst 2 years, just like Pacman, Valero ducked Soto too.

    Guzman never schooled Soto.
It was Soto that dominated Guzman, by doing to Guzman what no other fighter had ever done to Guzman, and that is, Soto made Guzman run like a chicken, and mad Guzman fight like a coward, by having Guzman quit fighting and hit Soto with a delibarete low blow.

If Soto beats and schools Rios now, Soto will NOT
