    LOL.

Beating a string of nobodies means nothing.

    And is a decent win.

    LOL..

Adamek was the WBC titlist and better than *anyone* Cleverly has ever beaten.

How old was Adamek when Dawson beat him?

    YEP.

Having a 0 on your record means *nothing* if you haven't beaten anyone.

Karpency over Dawson is a good win, although it was by SD in a fight that could have gone either way.

Adamek has done more than Cleverly's opposition. Period, end of.

He was good enough to move up and beat Steve Cunningham..

name a Cleverly win as good as Thomas Adamek.

How about as good as Antonio Tarver?

    Glen Johnson?

How about as good as 46 year old Bernard Hopkins?

Never kind of understood why everybody was so high on him? He lost to Pascal & got knocked the **** out by Stevenson, which tells that he is far from being an top elite level fighter, which many posters said he was.

Dawson have a weak mentality, he cannot handle pressure and adversity. Chad was pretty good, back in the days. But the first time he stepped up in class against Pascal, he lost. He then beat Hopkins, which was impressive but Hopkins is not a pressure, aggressive and come-forward fighter like Pascal. He was weight drained and got beaten up by Ward, which was on him from the bell. Dawson never really recovered from the Ward beatdown and if he didn't, then Adonis made sure of he never would come back to pre-Ward Dawson again.

At the end of the day, he was in my eyes an american hype job. Calzaghe would've toyed with him. Froch & Kessler would've murdered him. He might have a decent shot against Pre-Froch Bute, but that's about it. Dawson better retire now.

I said I rated Cleverly above Dawson and what you are asking is silly as I could say name a Cleverly loss as bad as Karpency or Pascal

    Adamek
A title doesnt make a fighter, the fighter makes the title.
Tell me what Adamek had done at LHW. He beat Briggs for a vacant title in a give and take war. The same Briggs who fought him in another give and take war and who was KOd by a first round jab against Green.
That is really it. How is that better than beating Murat who had beaten Campillo who went on to beat Shumenov and look unlucky to Cloud, forgetting the WBA title he won
How good was he (Adamek) at LHW when he fought Dawson based on the Briggs fights and results?

Tarver had been schooled by Hopkins at that time and cant see what he was doing at that time that makes youn rate him as a top win.

Think you just have to look at how Hopkins struggled with Murat to how Nathan handled him to know how the form line goes.

    Nathan was beating young fighters
    Dawson wasnt as often
Dawson looked good as he was a young fighter fighting ageing fighters. Look at the age of many of his opponents and remember some of these were a few years ago and that Dawson was younger than he is now

    Hopkins 47
    Hopkins 46
    Diaconu 32
    Pascal (he lost)
    Johnson 40
    Tarver 40
    Tarver 39
    Johnson 39

When he fought a younger prime fighter, who I dont think would have been a top LHW a few years ago he was beaten. Many fighters look impressive against older fighters and I cant see why nobody else noticed the difference in his age to his opposition.

Adamek didn't accomplish more at 175 than Cleverly and was drained in the Dawson fight. That's why he went straight to Cruiserweight, and fought there a mere 4 months afterwards.

Right place, right time for Dawson. He got a drained Adamek and cleaned out the old dogs. If he were coming up with this round of LHW's, he'd be fortunate to grab a belt, let alone get P4P accolades.

I think a few of you are downplaying Chad's win over Adamek a bit much.

Dawson was a totally different fighter with Mayweather, and technically, I thought he looked sensational that night. I admittedly have not seen the fight in awhile, but I never remember Dawson looking quite that good again after he left Floyd.

He did have an outstanding chemistry with Scully, who in my view got Chad to respond well and stay focused, particularly in the 2nd Hopkins bout where I felt Dawson was rattled in one of the earlier rounds and may have lost the plot had Scully not settled him down.

But the bottom line, for me at least - is I think Dawson's win over Adamek was outstanding, despite the Pole being weight-drained and not yet at his peak weight (which I clearly feel was cruiser).

bailey, let me explain something to you. When one compares two fighters, you generally look at their best wins. You don't look at their worst losses. When we compare, say, Tyson and Ali we don't talk about Keven Mcbride and Leon Spinks. For obvious reasons.

So when I name 4 fighters that Dawson beat that are better than anyone on Cleverly's resume, that says a lot.

bailey: still a moron after all these years.

It was a good win for Dawson, don't get me wrong. His performance was, for most of the fight, exactly on point. I can see why people got excited about his future after it.

However, the fact remains that only 4 months later Adamek was a Cruiserweight, and (correct me if I'm wrong), the only top 10 rated LHW he defeated was Briggs (I can't remember if Ulrich was ranked or not).

I give Dawson credit for it, but let's also shoot straight- Dawson got a lot of mileage off of what Adamek did at Cruiserweight and Heavyweight after that fight when it had no real bearing on what he brought to the table at 175.

Both fights against Briggs were absolutely fantastic but many felt that Adamek was very lucky to get the verdict in at least one of them. They were both razor-close MDs.

Adamek didn't beat anyone world class at LHW other than Briggs and Ulrich. CW was clearly Adamek's best weight, IMO. Ulrich didn't exactly have the greatest of chins either.

He's always been void of passion. His heart is highly questionable for a top level fighter.

Add in rapid erosion of skills and his drop off is greater than most. He's no young cat anymore...
