    Lets consider this:

He beats and humiliates GSP in his first title defense after his greatest victory. :-(

He then goes on to call GSP "Frenchie" in an interview. Which in turn pisses off the scariest and classiest fighter on earth and as a result GSP states he has lost all respect for him and will do his talking in the ring :yikes

He has to travel to Canada to fight GSP in GSP's hometown, and in the main event for the first UFC ever on Canadian soil :patsch

Here's to you Matt Sera; Apologize and Retire on top :deal

It would actually be funny if GSP got into such a rage that he would walk straight into a Donaire like left-hook.

I bet GSP goes for the submission. Just as a spit in the face, beat Serra at his own game....but he'll do it late in the fight, after a sustained beat down :yep

Serra's jiu-jitsu is on par with BJ Penns. I would be very suprised if GSP could sumbit Serra. I bet he can't KO him either.
Look out for 5 rounds of GSP laying and praying holding the smaller Serra down.

Just like GSP couldn't outwrestle Hughes or Kos right? And he can certainly KO him. I would be shocked, more shocked than I was the first time Serra beat him, if GSP doesn't stop this fight inside two. :deal

In a gi, during a BJJ match its still not as good as BJ's.

In MMA with punches, its not even in the same discussion as BJ's.

Not quite.. hes a notch below BJ ,Charuto , Viera but Matts two notches above GSP. Im from Canada and love GSP but I spent most of my life in NY so Im kinda torn.. I just hate that no one gives Serra a chance when he made GSP TAP! Not a lucky sub, or a punch..He was beaten F&S.

I agree though that GSP cannot submit or Ko Serra standing...He can Tko him with a G&P thats his best shot.

Truthfully I see Big Daddy beating Penn as a much bigger upset

Why couldn't GSP KO Serra standing? Serras got a good chin, but not to the point where he can't be KO'd.

Well for some reason some people think Shonie Carters back fist is stronger then GSPs roundhouse kick or Straight right. :nut Not to mention Serra's head is about the perfect height to get caught with a spinning back kick that GSP throws to almost perfection.

    WHOAH WHOAH.

I do understand that when people say "this or that couldnt happen" that all they really mean is that it is unlikely, being that quite clearly ANYTHING CAN happen in MMA. Few people predicted Gonzaga head kick KO Cro Cop after all.

But seriously, no one at 170 is safe from being KOd by GSP. He throws very good headkicks, and probably has the best standup at 170. Also, Matt Hughes may not be a BJJ black belt, but he is a very very good submission wrestler nonetheless. GSP can submit anyone after he has put some hurting on them with strikes.

How many punches to the face does it take to bring a black belt down to a blue belt again?

GSP still has to defeat Serra in the rematch and it hasn't happened yet. GSP is the better all around fighter - but Serra is years beyond GSP in jiujistsu.

I agree people are assuming he already won the rematch, which is silly, but look at their notable MMA subs:

    GSP:
    Pete Spratt
    Frank Trigg
    Sean Sherk
    Matt Hughes

    Serra:
    Nobody.

GSP is a better grappler in MMA, and its by a wide margin. Whether Serra is better in a gi in a BJJ match couldn't be less relevant.
