Apparently this is when the fight takes place finally. I hope if its going to main event they do it on a live Spike show or something because im not really sure how I feel about this. Last year the fight had intrest because Serra was Champion and Matt was still dangerous. Now Serra will only be fighting for the 3 time in 2 years he seems to fight only on Aprils just like DLH with May. While Hughes like Serra is coming off injuries and his last fight with Alves not to make excuse but Matt looked like he wanted to be elsewhere he seems to be just going through the motions no intensity like he used to. Little by little the guy has been losing motivation it seems and **** maybe he felt like hes stuck behind GSP with nowhere to go no real way to win back his title unless GSP is upset and of course Hughes is so used to the title and nothings changed as far as his chances go even if BJ wins vs GSP Hughes still has to wait behind Alves most likely. That said hopefully Hughes is motivated since him and Serra dislike each so much and Hughes brings his A game and I hope Serra does the same go out there and fight for your careers damnit.
Not again.Owait?they never fought?Meh its already to late.Every1 has already forgotten about the hostility between the two.
Hmmmm...easily? Prime Hughes beats him easily, but Serra looked a lot better against GSP than Hughes did. I just don't think Hughes has anything left really. I mean, I suspect he'll win, but it won't be "easily" and if Serra decisions him I won't be that surprised.
Funny thing about Serra. He exposed everything I don't like about Hughes, then it turns out his personality is extremely similar if not a little more whiney. Hope they both snap one anothers ancles with simultaneous ancle locks.
Serra's attitude doesn't seem to be that bad to me. It's his voice pitch that is annoying. Hughes' stand-up has always looked awful to me. I don't he can beat Serra on his feet, and that is the weakest part of Serra's game. I would give Royce Gracie a solid chance against Hughes standing. As weak as Serra's stand-up may be seem, he does appear to be heavy handed. Serra ko'd Pierre, don't think he can't do the same to Hughes. Serra is a natural lightweight going in against a very strong welterweight. People can say all they want about Hughes' slipping, but I don't think he's slipped very much. His last two fight were losses, but look at who he was facing. Pierre is considered by many to be the best fighter in the sport, and Alves is thought of as one of Pierre's biggest threats at 170. A ground and pound decision win for Hughes is very much a possibility.
Hughes will probably ground and pound Serra to a decision. Serra doesn't have the striking skills to bother Hughes and Hughes is fairly good at avoiding submissions that aren't being set up with good strikes. This is a classic grudge match though - so anything is possible.
Kinda hard to talk **** about Serra after that. Im already a little biased towards Serra since we both come from the whole Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu family of course he trained under Gracie while im under a Gracie Blackbelt.
I always liked Serra, probably because he has that whole NY Italian attitude that is just how my family is and he stands for what he believes and Hughes is just a midwest bible thumping egomaniac. I hope Serra snaps that bible out of Hughes arms with an armbar.
