Setanta Are Back

I also don't like the way sky sports news covers boxing. They will only talk about fights which sky will show. I can't remember them showing any segments on fights like Haye/Enzo and Calzaghe/Hopkins. At least Setanta Sports News has the decency to talk about fights which will be shown on sky.

 

Good point - you could say that Sky is like America (very insular).

Setanta is the market leader in broadcasting general sports coverage, trouble is, Sky have the majority of the best presenters - who are much more knowledgable than the likes of Chris Warren on the news channel, and Dempsey who is the anchor man for boxing coverage.

 

I would exopect to see Setanta poach one off Nelson, Piper or McCrory. Although they have got McGuigan and they love Bunce. I would like to see Dempsey on every show. Woodhall is fantastic, they should try and poach Adam Smith from sky.

One think I like about Setanta is that they will discuss and and cover stories about fights that Sky Sports or ITV are covering, whereas Sky Sports acted as if Clinton Woods vs Tarver and Pavlik vs Taylor were not happening. Setanta have been running stoires on Hatton all week and ever discussed Lynes vs Branco and other domestic Friday night fights shown by sky.

 

Oh and for anyone that doesn't know, in comparison this is sky sports boxing coverage after Saturday night.

Exactly, this is the point I was making. A few days ago they even had a live interview with Malignaggi and Frank Maloney.

 

Just had a letter from Setanta - subscription up to £12.99 I'm thinking of cancelling.

Ditto. I've only got it for the boxing and have no interest in the MMA bollox. Speaking of which, I started watching it the other day but found the spectacle of 2 grown men rolling around on the floor together for pretty much the whole fight boring and embarrasing
