Not happy with that decision at all. Hardly the beatdown some were predicting. One of those scores was way too wide.
I had it even going into the last round, with Joe edging it. Hopkins should have been pulled up for a few indiscretions, especially the play acting.
I think a lot of the rounds were very close, and hard to call. That kind of fight can lead to unusual scorecards, that's why we have three judges not just one.
Ah well I'm not going to moan too much. One judge thought Hopkins won & Joe got dropped by a clean shot so it was far from being the beatdown some expected. Joe never looked close to even hurting Hopkins.
The judges obviously liked pitty-pat shots better than meaningful ones. One of them really liked them.
I renage on my previous statement about wanting Hopkins to retire. I think he should have one last fight then call it a day. He doesn't deserve to retire on a loss like that.
I'm going to bed.... All I will say is despite the two blind mice, I was right Hopkins dominated in a sense that he controlled the bout. Landed lead rights practically at will and showed much more ring craft and skill. That was shite from Calzaghe. I'll honour my bet Flux but only because the Judges couldn't do their job properly. Joe was completely out classed and taken to school. He was the aggressor but punched ineffectively throughout. Don't want to sound like a sore loser so won't comment on this fight again. Well done Calzaghe and his supporters you got a gift there.
