Indeed , its become an institution at my house where me and my two main boxing / footy mates watch it. We even had special mugs for the footy and boxing. I'm really sorry for the fella losing his job , I've been throught that and its the worst feeling , by the end you just want them to shut the doors and be doen with it. Its having a huge effect on the spl too , Livingstone had the f**kin leccy cut off !
Yeah, it's not good. I've just survived a massive cull at my workplace. It's left a really bad atmosphere hanging around the place. It reminds me of when ITV Digital went tits up, that had a big impact on the lower level English clubs. I still miss the boxing they used to show on it when it was called OnSport, you can't beat watching two unknown Peruvians knocking seven bells out of each other. Usually about three months after the fight had happened as well.
Hopefully ESPN swoop in. They will need to be showing something other than just Premiership football so I reckon Golf will be on the top of there list. In the states Boxing gets decent figures so ESPN could go for it, UFC as well?
It ****in sucks , no question I dont know why (probably bunceys show) but I didn't mind paying for setanta where as sky make me feel like I'm getting a monthly ass-****ing
In a weird way this could well be a blessing for boxing fans. ESPN need sports to show on the station and I expect them to get whatever Setanta have to sell and put it on ESPN. Not to mention they are money wise on par with SKY and could get the rights of the top American shows for the English station and show them all. Sky are only interested in the odd PPV fight so I hope ESPN come good on boxing. To the bloke working for Setanta I know how it feels I was let go from my job 2 months ago even though I knew it was coming it is **** when it happens. It would be nice for Setanta to stay around and do a boxing UFC channel but I cant see it happening.
I don't know if I'm just being stupid here but weren't ESPN waiting to see if Setanta went into administartion so they could get them on the cheap? It may still happen. If so, we may still get Setanta but re-branded as ESPN. Doubful though- I'll probably have to fork out for another pissing subscription. Who knows- my optimism is gone, I'm just clutching at straws:-(.
