From the Glasgow Evening Times tonight Setanta cash could fall by up to two-thirds SPL clubs have been warned that if TV broadcaster Setanta survives that their payments will still be slashed. "We estimate that Setanta pays around £85m annually for SPL, FA rights, boxing and US PGA rights," said Marc Sugarman, an analyst at Citibank. "We would expect these rights costs would more than halve and possibly fall by two-thirds." One £3m instalment due to the SPL is already a week late, but talks are ongoing. Publication date 09/06/09
Sorry to go off topic, but did someone say the BBC have EPL rights next season!? Surely this doesn't mean live matches on BBC1 and 2?
How very kind of you to invite me to join your forlorn campaign. I try not to back lost causes though. As much as I hate to say it, I think that Setanta are ****ed. It would be better to try to get boxing back onto TV with a viable company. :think:yep
Do setanta get royalties on the avatars or something or are you hoping that our collective love for setanta will magically see their bank accounts filled.
If Setanta go off i would be gutted they are paying too much for the SPL games by the sounds of it. I like watching the Dutch, French and German League games im sure they would cost a bit too
The money paid to the SPL is nothing in comparison to their contracts with the EPL and the FA. That seems to be where the problem is.
At the risk of having the **** ripped I support a team who have been on the Blue Square Prem (Conference) over the last two seasons and Setanta's coverage of the game has been superb, although the clubs didn't really make that much money out of it. Us having avatars won't make any difference I'm sure but nothing wrong with a bit of solidarity.
