brooklyn1550, I'd very much like to see your top 25 p4p lists...or top 20...or top 15 at the very least!

Unified CW champ at 27 after only 23 fights. Beat a prime Enzo and a linear champ in his own back yard after a stint at heavyweight. definitiion of pound for pound imo.

All good points...and things like this are all subjective I guess. And its been awhile since I seen any of Dixon or McLarnin, so maybe I do need to go back and brush up....but who knows.

As for Roy, I have him around 19-21 (my list fluctuates too much...seems to change a bit everytime I try to do one :D ) and Pernell 12-10.

Greb is right about where Whitaker is.

Nah, if Hopkins beats Calzaghe, Calzaghe was slightly overrated...probably only Top 7 p4p and Hopkins beating him would bring him up as high as Top 5 p4p, but not better...p4p No. 1 for beating what could only have been an overrated Calzaghe is out of the question...

Dont you think that just maybe, its because Hopkins is far UNDERRATED at this point in his career???

Put it this way - McLarnin has a win over Ambers who has wins over guys like Zivic, who dropped a split decision to Armstrong who tangled with Robinson in what was not inarguably Sugar's best win. He is a part of the era which is considered by many to be boxings most golden. There IS an argument for excluding guys based upon head to head if you go a little farther back (though I'm not buying it), so that excuses Dixon, but to me, McLarnin is a dead lock for a top 50. I think I have him about as high as can be justified, I don't see him as top 25.

You have Whitaker HIGH. He's just crept past Roy and into my top 20, thanks not least to input from yourself (though Sweet Pea and the REAL Sweet Pea deserve the most credit).

Sure...he would have to have been underrated if he beats even an overrated Calzaghe...

I have Calzaghe somewhere at 3 p4p and Hopkins around 22 p4p. On this basis, I expect Hopkins to win no more than 3 rounds. If he wins 3 rounds against Calzaghe, he was underrated, and he moves inside the Top 20. If he wins 4 rounds, he is in the Top 15, where Kessler is. If he beats Calzaghe, Calzaghe must have been overrated if he was beaten by someone who was rated outside the Top 20 to start off with. But, clearly, Hopkins was underrated being rated outside the Top 20...He should have been ranked around p4p Top 15 before the figth. A p4p Top 15 guy who beats a Top 7 p4p guy (which Calzaghe should have been, if he loses, before the fight), could climb as far as top 5 p4p, but not more.

Sorry, mate...but this is how things are...

A guy who is ranked objectively around the Top 20 mark cannot beat a guy who is objectively ranked inside the Top 3/4, unless the guy who was ranked 3/4 was overrated and the guy who was ranked 20 underrated. It's too big a gap.

Kessler was just inside the Top 20 for me, before the Calzaghe fight. I expected him to win 3-4 rounds, on that basis. He won 4 in a very good performance against an opponent at his best, so he climbed inside the Top 15. Hopkins is not Top 15, mate...I don't expect him to win 4 rounds, as a result. If he wins 4 rounds or more, I underrated him but I also overrated Calzaghe; it's as simple as that.

ONLY IN YOUR HEAD at this time. But you don't say, "maybe there is something I have missed." You dont say "maybe my near obsession with boxing as a series of attributes which can be described on a spreadsheet is off absolutley no help whatsoever and I need to look again."

No. Even after all the Calzaghe God-worshiping that goes on around hear, if Hopkins finds a way, the win just isn't worth that much. A tainted win. Because Joe was overated.

    Congratulations, you're a ****ing idiot.
