Man, I have been boozing from 5 o'clock this evening waiting for this bloody fight, & Im pretty pissed Im watching in my pal Kevs house just now, & posting from there anyway, im still sober enough to realise that the Setanta presentation is frankly awful! Its like the Joe Calzaghe 'This is your life' show, mixed with a shitload of adverts & Steve Bunce trying too hard to be likeable! I honestly hope the main event is good, cos its been a long, boring night of boxing so far... & what about that macarinelli win? Macs hitting so hard that hes even knocking guys out with punches that dont land! & that is always the sign of a dangerous puncher.
Bunce has become a complete joke. He exagerrates so much he makes himself look stupid. It is time to get a more intelligent and sensible boxing journalist on there. Demspey is good for setanta. He came up with the golden line "Those first six rounds are the best six rounds of boxing of all time".atsch It was a good fight, but dont insult the intelligence of the viewer with such a stupid statement everyone knows is not true.
Nice presentation tonight, it usually is when the fight is screened from Britain. Im sick of the subscribe now logo that covers up the round time, really pissed me off but apart from that very good.
Aye, Im back home now, eating a nice hot currry:thumbsup My mate doesnt post on the forums sadly enough, as he knows 10 times more about boxing than I do! He uploads the scottish boxing vids onto YT though, & you can speak to him there! My buddy here VictorHugo speaks to him on Youtube sometimes, & hopefully Kev has good words to say about me
Good fight eh mate? JC really impressed me tonight after taking that 4th round shalacking from a younger, bigger fighter. He's some fighter and I havn't always been his biggest fan I'll be honest.
That always happens on Setanta max, & its a pain in the ass if you are recording fights for the collection. BTW glad to see your avatar became a reality, I was well chuffed for Calzaghe tonight, & your good self of course as your probably the biggest Calzaghe fan I have met! Massive win for Calzaghe to beat a fighter like Kessler, as if you didnt know already!
BTW Kessler has got to be the biggest 168 fighter I've ever seen in my life...the bloke looked ****ing massive!
Yeah, it was a great fight. When Kessler caught Joe with tht huge uppercut, I thought it was goodnight Calzaghe. & then when Joe wobbled Kessler in the 9th & also hurt Kessler with a huge bodyshot that the commentators missed(I think, Im a bit foggy as I have been drinking all day & the fight kinda whizzed past me) It was to & fro. Calzaghes chin impressed me the most, I thought if Kessler landed clean he could take out Joe. But Joe took his best shots, & kept coming back. It was nice to see in the post fight interview both giving each other credit, & I agree with Frank Warren when he said that Kessler will dominate the division for years to come. If Calzaghe had any sense he would retire right now, hes achieved it all. Theres no need for jumping up divisions & trying to achieve more. He should retire right now as undisputed undefeated champion.
I think he sees easy, big money fights with Hopkins (great fighter but 'done') and Pavlik (where to start with this guys faults??). Two fights in a year and retire £10 mil better off with a couple of more great names on your record must be tempting? Then theres always the winner of the the joke fight Jones-Trinidad, esp if its Jones. Calzaghe could have 3 pretty easy fights and rake in close on £15 mil........and still be undefeated.
Aye, thats some good points you make there. at the end of the day, the huge money on offer will be a temptation he cant resist. & like yourself I dont see anyone being able to stop Joe at light heavy. However, Joe is no spring chicken himself, & theres always a danger that he could go on too long. I know its the wrong time to say it as its Joe euphoria at the moment, but I think he should quit whilst hes ahead. He wont, but I think he should. This is a win he could & should retire on. hes cemented his legacy, & he will never be short of TV work for the rest of his life. So the money will always be rolling in. There was a time Roy jones was untouchable, but he stayed too long & tainted his legacy. Joe may fall into the same trap.
I agree. How many times can you train harshly for 3 months, struggling to make weight and then take shots like he did tonight without it catching up with him? I want him to end it now.
