Where's the evidence to say that either guy would beat Banks? They might and they might not, but neither guy has been in with a solid, experienced pro who isn't ancient. I'm not saying Banks would KO them like he did Mitchell, but he could well take either man into deep water if they don't blow him out.

 

The argument was that both Fury and Price are just as untested as Mitchell. They might be better, but let's see when they step it up. Fury did beat Chisora, but it was an out of shape version who did not yet have the experience he has since aquired. It would be very interesting to see the British prospects against a solid contender like Banks - let's see if they can beat a well-schooled guy in his prime before throwing them to the lions. David Price has never gone past 7 rounds in a pro fight ffs.

 

Brits love to just pose these hypothetical h2h matchups and Fury/Price always win by KO. It's a trend.

 

I understand getting behind your own and all the rest, but facts are facts; until guys like Price and Fury shows they can handle adversity and go the full 12 rounds against real opposition, no-one should pick them over the champion. It's kinda sad that guys like that go in the current top 10 at HW. You really should have to beat somebody to get in there.

Some folks around here truly DKSAB. Taking a punch is much more dependent on skill than on physical toughness.

 

Banks has no chin . And he won. So why is Mitchell done now.

Where is Price Top10?

I dont like Fury in the Top10 but he has beaten Chisora, has a chin and was a decent amateur.

 

i don't think one ko loss exposes a fighter, but he clearly looked like he folds under pressure. seen this fight 15 times now and it never seems to amaze me looked like he was ready to cry or quit even in the first knock down. i would't say seth was really hurt after the first knock down it was more like he never been in this situation and pancic and therefore banks was able to ko him a minute later.

 

Fury, like I said, has already been in with Chisora who, whilst he was out of shape, was still the man who went on to emphatically beat a top prospect in Helenius later that same year. Whilst he might have retrospectively gained experience fighting Helenius and Vitali, he certainly didn't gain much fighting Ziausys, so I think it's reasonable to assume that Fury went in with a dangerous contender and one who might very well have been able to clean his clock that night, overweight or not.

As for Price, whilst he doesn't have a massive name on his resume yet I'd argue that both Sexton and McDermott were solid experienced pros who were more than capable of exposing guys who weren't up to scratch like Olubamiwo. Price not only beat them but destroyed them, without taking so much as a lick of punishment in return. In fact he's steamrolled his opposition so thoroughly to date that that he really hasn't shown us any weaknesses. That's both a plus and a minus. Still, the manner in which he boxes, which very scarily resembles a younger Wlad, is encouraging for his future. He already has deep amateur experience and has suffered TKO losses there, so he's aware he's not invincible. I don't see him making rookie mistakes or taking unnecessary chances, and with his height and good fundamentals he can very easily keep things behind a jab if he needs to.

If the evidence is against anyone it's against Banks himself. Whilst Banks is a canny pro, he's looked less than impressive against a number of lesser fighters at heavyweight, struggling against Gavern, going the distance with Julius Long and so on. Whilst he got the win of his life last night, I'd say it's very unlikely he'd be able to repeat his success twice, especially against the likes of Fury or Price, both of whose height would make it very difficult for him to set traps or counter them in the manner that he did against Seth.

 

I just saw whole fight--Mitchell is awful. I take back anything good I said about his potential. He has no ability to recover, looks shocked when hit. Is brave keep trying.

He has no defense, throws right hand leads from too far away for them to land anyway. If he had half a defense he would have some potential, he just leads with head open.

 

He aint next b/c he's not gonna fight a DANGEROUS top 30 HW next, Tyson Fury IS.

I think Fury is going to win, b/c Johnson aint exactly a stylistic nightmare for Fury, but he's a top HW, and he aint coming to lose. Price's opponent obviously knows he's simply fighting for a paycheck.:think

 

Banks would be CRUSHED by either Fury or Price, undoubtedly.

Banks is a lazy fighter. He's a CPer, but unless the guy is COMING into range, he aint hardly throwing.

A guy like Price would pick him apart from the outside and pepper him with R hands. Fury would as well, although it would be more of a clubbing than a sharpshoot.

Mitchell walked right into that CP and he paid for his mistake. Banks might not be a huge puncher, but it's MORE likely than not, that we just don't see Banks power, b/c we've never seen him put punches together before.:think

 

I agree with MOST of your post. Most all except the part about Chisora "EMPHATICALLY" beating Helenius. The fight was a back and forth battle, and while I have Chisora as the winner of 7-8 rds, he CLEARLY fought a one armed fighter.
Whether Helenius can recover from his PREFIGHT shoulder TEAR, or his 1st rd 2 bone hand fracture, has not yet been determined, but what was determined was that DelBoy beat a one armed fighter, and nothing more.:thumbsup

 

Price has a chin built from straws. When the big bad wolf comes to huff and puff, he will collapse and never recover. Fury on the other hand is slowly turning into a brick house, champion in the making :deal

Price is nearly 30, his promoter and himself gives the impression that he can beat anyone. His next fight is against Matt Skeleton

Fury is only 24, he is fighting Kevin Johnson next, and his team tried to get a fight against undefeated heavy hitting Boytsov. Who's team do you think have the most faith in their fighter?
