Aside from the Johnson stuff, Hart was better than he is commonly given credit for. Root, Gardner, O'Brien, Ferguson and Ruhlin were all good men, prime or near that Marvin matched.

His record is pretty good , footage would be priceless, the man gets dismissed all too easily today, imo.

most fighters from then get dismissed too easily.

Root beat a good McCoy, Ruhlin whopped Sharkey and fought a bloody draw with a peak Maher, some people here feel O'Brien outpointed Johnson, et al. Hart at his peak matches up well with his immediate predecessors and indeed his form v Ross, Johnson, etc puts him well up with McVey, Jeannette etc.

I thought Ruhlin looked good, in the little clip of him and Jeffries.:good
Film of Hart might surprise a few people, if it were available.

McVey - do you really think the 1st round KO of Dempsey is legit? Seriously come one - we're talking about one of the deadliest heavyweight champions in history?? If someone had genuinely knocked out Jack Dempsey in 1 round and beaten a prime Sam Langford then why isn't the guy unquestinably one of THE greatest fighters ever period???

Dempsey never said the fight was not on the level and I haven't seen anything to make me think it was other than kosher.
Flynn did beat Langford ,he may have only done it once in 5 tries ,but he was 41 and 42 in the last of their three fights.

Langford also lost to Gunboat Smith , Fred Fulton, and Bill Tate.
I love Jack Dempsey, he is my no 3 heavyweight ABOVE Louis even, but in the absence of proof to the contrary the result stands.

Yeah, Ive heard plenty of naysayers trying to say the Flynn Dempsey fight was a fix but never any convincing evidence. I dont know why its so hard to believe Dempsey got caught. If you read the actual accounts of that fight it sounds like he was hurt pretty bad.

Hart had heart. He could recover from a knock down, and draw or win.
