Valuev outweighed most of his opponents by more than this. He outweighed Haye by 99lbs, and he'd even outweigh Wladimir and Vitali by about 70lbs.

I meant in case of difference between cruiserweight and heavyweight. Weight difference limits do not apply to heavyweights. For example, 190lb Marciano vs 240lb Wlad would not be sanctioned but if Marciano were to get above 200lb he would be able to fight Valuev if he wanted (at present times)

You'll have a hard time settling a bet this way, since you're going to get a lot of misinformation here. But the truth is that weight classes have ceilings, not floors. You can't exceed a certain weight, but you can be as far below it as you please.

Sergio Martinez, for example was willing to come down to 154 and put up both the Jr. Middleweight title AND the Middleweight title on the line sweeten the pot for Floyd. He would have been authorized to do that because you don't have to weigh over 154 to fight for the middleweight title - you just can't be over 160.

Likewise, Leonard fought for the super middleweight and light heavyweight title simultaneously despite weighing in below the super middle limit.

There may be practical considerations, like a commission facing political pressure not to licence a fight too far outside of someone's weight class, but there are no set rules against it at all.

:patsch There is no minimum weight limit in heavyweight but cruisers cannot fight above 12lb of their weight. That does set the minimum weight limit for heavyweight bouts, doesn't it?
