why can't they just agree to wear different glove ounces on fight night? Fighter A gets his 8 oz while Fighter B wears 10 oz

But what if the fighter with the lighter gloves knocks out the fighter with the heavier ones and people will say ohh well its cause he wore lighter gloves.

Then fans of heavier glove fighter should blame it on heavier glove fighter for agreeing to the glove differences

People get a little too concerned with this stuff.

2 oz of foam isnt stopping anyone getting KO'd

    Have you ever boxed?

At a low level it barely makes a difference.

When you're dealing with guys at the elite level, it would like covering a baseball mat with a small layer of foam, then adding a tiny bit thicker layer of foam.

It gives a little bit more protection to guys hands, as the heavier weightd guys can hit harder and therefore require a little more protection on their knuckles. Lets not forget, the purpose of gloves isnt to cushion the others guys face, its the to cusion the attackers hands.

In terms of punching force, I doubt it makes 2% difference to the feel of the punch to the opponent.

Think about it, the absolute elite level punchers can generate force of up to a 1000 lbs per square inch....2 oz aint doing **** to cushion the blow to the guys face.

There shouldn't be disputes 147 and below should use 8oz gloves and 154 and above should use 10oz gloves as is the norm. The issue only arises when fighters are looking for a sneaky advantage.

True, but the same can be said for ring size. It always favors one fighter over another. Maybe glove size should be negotiable, per fighter, as part of the overall deal. For instance: "My slick boxer demands a larger ring, but in return we'll let you wear 8 oz gloves."

    Or not.

  9. Agreed. But it's more about protecting brittle glass fists

If you're solid fisted, big hands and fine with 8 ounce cletos. then you will be pissed off if they're making you wear 10 ounce grants. it's giving up another condition of the bout. 2 ounces does make a different.

it won't stop you getting ko'd but it does protect the fighters from delivering more damage in shots. and bigger gloves also suit defence minded fighters. easier to catch and defend punches

No he didin't you stupid, **** eating dumb ****. The rule in nevada at the time was that WW's wore 10oz gloves. It had nothing to do with mayweather.
