He’s an easy top 5. Can argue for him not even being in the top 30 but it’s a weak argument and it’s all arbitrary anyhow. However, an easy argument can be made for him being top 5 all time.

 

You should be extremely generous for top 5. There are many all time greats like SRR, Greb, Langford, Armstrong, Charles, Moore, Duran, Pep, Sandler, both Leonards etc and etc...

 

Aside from SRR, Pac has a case for being above all of them.

Guys like Greb fought in the 20s when it was mostly an American sport, primitive, completely different landscape. How is it even comparable? It’s like saying Royce Gracie is greater than Khabib because he beat everyone regardless of weight class and Khabib can’t beat HWs today. When it’s just a case of the competition having increased.

So sure, if you have a hard-on for fighters you’ve never seen fight, or if you have, very little of so you’re not actually forming your own opinion but just regurgitating what others have said, fair enough.

I rate fighters based on what I see and have better context on how good their opponents were.

So yes, Pac easily has a case for top 5. Easily.

I don't think you have to full watch him to rank someone. You can read articles about him, watch interviews with people who lived in his time, watch some short fight videos if you find them, this might give you an idea. For example, in football, Pele has been referred to as a goat for almost 40 years, and to me he is now only second after Messi. Because he dominated the big tournaments of his time. He dominated not only garbages, but also quality competitors. The same goes for boxers.
