OK how do you see a round robin between these 4 SFW great fighters playing out: Azumah Nelson Alexis Arguello Juan Manuel Marquez Eric Morales
Arguello was the best and greatest of the four and comes out on top. Nelson beats Marquez and Morales. Marquez beats Morales.
Arguello is the only name of those four who really peaked indisputably at the weight, although Nelson was only slightly less great at 130 than he'd been at 126, I suppose. Not really Morales' best weight; he was a little more inconsistent north of Super-Bantam. A guy like Arguello would just be a shade too big, too rangy and too powerful for the smaller, hittable Erik. I think Arguello almost certainly comes out on top, and Morales almost certainly at the bottom. I think it's tight between Marquez and Nelson for second spot. Purely on records, Nelson is clearly the better man at Super-Feather and below, but stylistically I think Marquez could well be a bad fit for him. Gun to my head I'll go with Nelson and say that it might be one of those match ups mentioned yesterday where the weight plays a key factor, with Marquez certainly having the upper hand at 135 or higher, but Nelson (just) taking it at 130. 1) Arguello 2) Nelson 3) Marquez 4) Morales
Arguello really was a stone cold killer at SFW but I feel he was always there to be outboxed and two tough as nails counter punchers like Nelson and JMM might just have his number. I agree EM is bottom of the list out of the 4. I find it really hard to pick between the top 3 though.
