Really excited for this one, and not sure why there isn't more talk about it. Shabranksky looks like a promising prospect that's developing very quickly, though I know not everyone is on that boat. I was surprised he stepped up and fought Gonzalez last. He's quickly amassing a decent resume for a sub 20 match fighter. I'm also excited to see Fidel Maldonado Jr hopefully get steam rolled again, on undercard vs Antonio Orozco. I never liked him for some reason, though he's always in exciting fights. Anyway, thoughts on the Shabranksy/Barrera match? Will this be more difficult a test than the Cuban he fought last December, Yunieski Gonzalez?
Barrera is going to get beaten badly by Shabranskyy. It will end in a knockout and Slava will look better than Ward did vs the same opponent. I'm still going to watch it. I would have liked to see Ward vs Shabranksyy as a tuneup before he fought Kov and I think it would have prepared him better than Barrera and Brand did.
I think Slava Chingonskyy has this. It would be a good scalp after that other cuban Yunieski Gonzalez. Best fight of the week by a mile. How do you guys rate Slava, compared to the other EE prospect known as The Nail ? Who thinks Barrera gonna win and why ? Props to both of them for putting their carrers on the line against eachother.
I got Slava by UD or late KO here, stylistically Slava is all wrong for Barrera, Barrera has decent power, but I doubt its comparable to Yunieski Gonzalez's, while Barrera is capable outboxing Slava I don't see him outworking, which is what's going to matter here, Slava will come in hooks blazing and light him up from the opening round, if Barrera's chin can take it this might be a FOTY worthy match.
How is he all wrong for Barrera? Has he struggled against similar fighters in the past? I've never seen the guy fight outside of the Ward match.
Hard to call, but Shabransky I think has the style advantage. Barrera will be hard to land too many on, but Shabransky has the edge in range, speed, and activity. Barrera nullifies Shabransky from landing too many clean and looks tidier but won't land much himself in most rounds, and Shabransky outworks and basically outboxes Barrera. Shabransky wins 7-3, maybe 6-4.
I think it's going to be fought on even terms for about 4 or 5 rounds before Shabranskyy starts taking over and landing some heavy artillery on Barrera's shaky chin and forces a late stoppage. I think shabranskyy is the real deal, but Barrera isn't perceived as his toughest test for nothing. This is going to be a good one!
He got dropped by Ward who isn't a power puncher by any means. Shabranskyy is a totally different beast than Ward in the Power Punching category, and has very good punch technique, and gets real leverage on his shots. I think Gonzalez has a sturdier chin, and I don't think Barrera goes the distance, honestly. I could be wrong, we'll see.
Nah, I think you have it pretty spot on. I just wanted to hear your reasoning behind it, I haven't seen much of the guy.
He didn't look great against Zoulikha at times, or Lee Campbell, but not bad either. But mostly I'm basing my opinion on what This content is protected said.
For me Shabransky wins , I don't know if we should expect a ko here. But the fight will be interesting for sure , both fighters are open to make it good for watching but I don't rate Barrera high. Someone already mentioned that he got dropped by Ward which doesn't say anything good for him.
I don't think it's a glass chin, but it's clearly not that solid. Also, imo, Barrera is far too slow to outbox Shabranssky, he'll be taking most of the punishment.
