Shakan Pitters v Craig Richards TONIGHT Channel 5 10.30pm

Getting to the point now that if all British title fights were on terrestrial or regular Sky Sports think I'd give up on so called world title fights apart from the odd big fight not that there's many of them getting made, just too fragmented and difficult to follow nowadays. Whereas with the British or even Commonwealth it's a single, legitimate title for each weight division and generally the guys who fight for it deserve their shot.

 

Just got round to watching this having recorded it last night. Cracking fight, proper end to end stuff at times.
Richards had better footwork for me and Pitters held back a bit too much, but an evenly matched fight all in all.

 

Indeed. He's one of the more level headed posters on this forum, always has a good contribution.

 

See people saying on a different thread, the British is the only reason I come on here. Great group of lads, no nonsense and anyone who acts a tit gets politely ignored. Thoroughly enjoy chewing the fat with all the mainstays.

 

Very good enjoyable fight as I expected it would be, although I thought Pitters would do a much better job of controlling the distance with his jab- he is taller than a good number of heavyweights but seems to not make use of that, fights quite small.

Craig Richards would be a perfect opponent for Buatsi in 2021, shouldn't be a difficult fight to make, and will give JB a good test before he moves on to the next level. I think he still needs one more pre world level tough, competitive fight where he will be pushed and Richards would certainly provide that.

 

I dont want to speak out of turn but I have seen one moderator a few times now get very aggressive when people disagree with his card, really does rip into them. I wouldn't mind but some of his scoring is very poor in my opinion, but it is subjective. Hopefully he doesn't visit here and give me a telling off!

Seriously though I only occasionally post on the General, there are some good posters on there but the majority are not to put it mildly, not in the same league as this place and to a lesser extent the Classic forum.

Dunno, after watching Buatsi's last fight not sure he'd beat Richards but luckily for him and Eddie Craig is with Big Mick so they can use that as an excuse as to why the fight can't happen.

Pitters has ability but he will need to work hard on the technical faults that we saw on Friday night.
Going backwards in a straight line is always a no,no. Shak was also countered repeatedly, including the knockout punch, because after landing he wasn't bringing his hands back to, what I have heard Richie call, the en guard position.
I realise that Shak was badly rattled but if the drills are done diligently in the gym, these things become instinctive.
