Arguello wins because he had a superior skillset .

At this point, Shakur has not demonstrated that he is on Arguello's level.

He might demonstrate this some day, but as of now, he has not.

Stevenson is levels below Arguello and he is not a finished product.
Stevenson will never possess the KO power of Arguello but he may, in time become a master boxer.

Stevenson's best opponent wouldn't crack Arguello's top-20. Not saying he doesn't have talent, but it won't be fully realized because he and the rest of his generation won't fight each other. Arguello won his titles off of Ruben Olivares, Alfredo Escalera and Jim Watt. Stevenson won his off Jamel Herring who would last maybe 2 rounds with Alexis. I'm sure if prime Alexis stepped off of a time machine today not a single one of these guys would step up and fight him

Although Shakur has the type of style that could frustrate Alexis he's an atg and more proven you have to pick him here.

Too soon and unfair to compare Shakur to an ATG like Arguello. Give him a couple more years and a dozen fights against top opponents and we will see. He’s off to a great start but Arguello was special. Stevenson has as good a chance as any young modern day fighter to be great and is on the right track. He’s young and still developing but I like what he has done so far.

Let’s compare modern day young fighters with other guys at a similar stage in their career. Save the comparisons to ATG’s for when their careers are well established. I think Stevenson will have a better career than Tank Davis, Haney and Teo Lopez. I hope he fights these guys soon, along with Ryan Garcia. It’s more fun to see guys fight than to argue about how they would do (often against guys in their own weight class). Unfortunately, with todays matchmaking we spend way more time on what-ifs because most top guys mysteriously manage to avoid top guys at their own weight.
