Shakur Stevenson vs. Vasyl Lomachenko

That would be a crazy fight.

 

Depends on how Loma looks and how well he manages to pull off a convincing win over Haney. Stevenson would be favored due to his youth and Loma being 35 and slowing down. Loma from 2016 - 2018 would have had a great chance at beating Stevenson.

It'll be crazy if Loma manages to beat Haney and Stevenson back-to-back. It's a tall order but not impossible for Loma.

 

Now I would favour Stevenson. Loma's past his best fighting bigger men, I fully expect Arum to try and make the fight should Loma beat Haney.

 

Loma is past it and fighting bigger guys i dont see him beating Haney let alone Shakur who is much better than Haney .

 

Would still make for a good fight.
But Loma should move back down in weight. He longer has a speed advantage over the bigger guys.

 

Loma from a few years ago or from Commey/Nakatani era probably beat Stevenson or gives us a fight for the ages. Mid-thirties Loma is still tough and has a great chance of beating the younger bigger guy. Loma looked a little rusty and a shade slower in his last fight. Still fought well against a bigger opponent but he might be showing his age. I hope he drops down and fights guys his own size.

The outcomes of these matchups are anyone’s guess. Stevenson and Haney are both prime, young, super talented and significantly bigger than Loma. Any other fighter with the deck stacked against him in similar fashion and I’d take the younger guy but Loma is still Loma.

Also, one thing is certain. Loma will fight either guy without a doubt. Other top fighters seem to want the easiest opponents or to create major drama with every fight. Insisting on A side bull****, hydration clauses, unfair advantages, etc. Loma will fight anyone in the 135 class. I’ll miss him when he’s gone because he’s a rare fighter.

I still feel like the fights that many fans have wanted at 135 a couple of years ago haven't all been made the way we all talked about. If Shakur gets either Loma or Haney that might make up for it. Tank and Garcia aren't sticking around at 135 and Teo is at 140 hanging around for old guys to fight.

I really hope loma beats Haney to set this up. For the record I've always felt Haney is a bit over rated.
