where ya think he gonna end up when its all said and done? its still early in his career, and id like him to fight a bigger name soon! do ya think he cleans u 130/135? This content is protected
Why guys like him always saying things like they are the best, but fighting not even TOP 10 ? And NO, this is not the mindset, This is just delusion.
He's 23 and only had 15 fights yet some of you think he should already beating top 10 opposition? WTF Mayweather in his 15th fight fought a guy with a 8-1 record, yet it seems these days fans seem to want guys winning world titles and beating top guys before their 20th fight, are we really throwing people on the trash pile because they are not world champions or close to it after 15 fights? For me I see him as the most well rounded prospect in boxing right now, his skill set for me separates him from those around him. I'm sure when he does eventually step up he'll win a world title and I don't see anyone at Super feather beating him. Lightweight is much deeper so that's where he'll really be tested and we see how good he really is. I think Stevenson has the ability to be a great but that will really be determined by his focus, discipline and commitment. Plenty of very talented athletes get side tracked by the fame and fortune, he has the talent and ability but does he have the drive to be great, time will tell I guess.
Well, others at his age were fighting some good fighters and some of them are world champions. double standards ? If some other guys can, he should be also. AND he should stop saying BS like he is the best, if he's not even fighting TOP 10. Talent is not enough, when delusion is high.
So basically he should be humble and be quiet not promote himself by hyping himself up right. Well yeah I prefer that type of personality in boxing too but I also understand boxers, especially those without real power have to talk big to get noticed. So yes he's trash talking like so many others before him, but it's just salesmanship so I don't take it seriously. Fact is despite all his talk he's a young boxer like anyone else and should be brought along accordingly regardless of what he says to get noticed.
I think he wants the big fights, they just haven't happened yet. I think he can clear out 130. It depends a lot on who is at 135 by the time he gets there, theres a tonne of young talent around 130-140 at the moment.
So there is only two options ? Saying that you are the best or be quiet ? There is nothing between ? How about saying that you can challenge the best and ACTUALLY fight someone good ?
So what if someone isn't ready to fight world class opposition should they just remain quiet and not self promote themselves by hyping themselves. Was Ali wrong for proclaiming himself the greatest before fighting Liston? If Stevenson was some 25-0 guy who had been a pro for several years you might have a point but were talking about a 15 fight prospect who still needs time to move up to world class. Not even sure why your even bringing in a fighters personality in regards to a thread about a fighters potential. I get you don't like his bragging but that doesn't mean a thing into a fighters potential.
As you say it's still early and he's young. But he does need to step up soon because he clearly is too good for the guys he's fighting right now and needs to be tested more to gain experience and learn more.
