I'd like to see him take a step up fight of not this year early next year. For whatever reason they're bringing him along slowly and he has a great time around him ward and J Prince.
They're both feather-fisted, but nowhere as skilled as Floyd to take them very far, imo. You can tell Floyd was special very early on. These dudes are good, but I don't foresee a high ceiling.
You can see glimpses. I think it's fairly obvious it's time for him to move towards the big boys at this point.
I saw Shakur in person last year here in Houston a few days after he fought Felix at Prospect Park a lounge/sportsbar and he looks like a little kid really. He's tiny and looks very young in person.
The fact is he's already a champion and thinks he's the best despite not facing a top 10 fighter to date. Even his best win in Joet Gonzalez wasn't ranked in the top 10 until after Shakur beat him.
Just modern PR thing. Now even guys who are not boxers had get good paychecks for boxing fights if they are enough well known. So no offense there if some boxer claims that he is the best. Attention = sales, everyone here is happy. Taxman, managers, team, handlers, promoter etc.
For how small he his, and given his style, he's either entering or in his physical prime right now. There's definitely some mileage on the clock as he's been fighting since he could walk. A little guy like Shakur needs to get after it. Spending 5 years stepping DOWN from his amateur comp level is not a good look. Street fights are not a good sign. He's looking more and more like a bust every day, unfortunately. I hope to be proven wrong.
His own fans think he can beat that competition right now. They think all the champions are ducking him.
Well he's interim champion which lets be honest itsn't a legit world title just another way for sanctioning bodies to generate cash and promoters to falsely promote a fighter as a world champion to sell it to TV audiences. His champion status is all smoke and mirrors. But again I repeat all this criticism of his lack of quality opposition which lets be honest is true doesn't mean he doesn't have potential. Most fighters first 15 fights are against journeymen types no matter how great they go on to become or not become. But some people on here are equating him not fighting world class opposition already as a reason to say he has no potential.
Teo is 23 and scurred the bejezuz out of Lomo. I've seen one of Shakur's fights and instantly forgot. But Teo you remember the kid make the pnd for pnd fighter scurred to engage. Sorry Shakur done nothing to suggest he will be a good one.Teo just did what no other his age do and that's do the unthinkable.
