I think it need's a proofreader. Have told them that on numerous occasions. The rankings are...er...interesting. Some of the articles leave a lot to be desired, and some are good. Of all the boxing mags in Australia I'd say it's in the top two. Once again, I've never been asked or told what to write, I submit stuff that I'm interested in and only once has that not been up to standard, which looking back, I'd agree.
I will also state that I accept no renumeration for any articles I've written. It does get me free access to fights I attend but whenever I do a write up I call it as I see it which isn't always the most popular opinion, case in point being the last fight I attended, the Dawson-Kalakoda rematch which was a ud win to Dawson which I scored 116-112 to Kalakoda. I've bought the Fist from the very first issue so to see my name in print the first time which was an article about Ben Rabah I enjoyed a lot. My favourite memory was walking into Dymocks in Perth with my daughters and them pointing out one of my articles which was being used as a book review for a book on display. A very surreal experience. I honestly think that boxing mags in Australia are struggling with the advent of new technology, it's obviously nothing like it was in the early 90's so as longs as they keep printing and as long as they are happy to keep publishing what I write, I'm happy. And if it ends, well, c'est la vie.
If I had the time to do so Francis, I would. I have no idea how they go about with the rankings, I'm not involved, nor do I pretend to know enough about all the divisions to suggest I'd make a worthy contribution.
I'll also add it's been good enough to me that I've enjoyed access to a host of people that I otherwise would not have had a chance to meet. Won't start namedropping but have had lots of great conversations over the last few years and met lots of people and heard lots of gossip and some great inside stories. Of all the people I've met, theres only been two people I'm not in a rush to meet again, again, no names, one wouldn't be much of a surprise to most and one strung me along for about six hours one night promising an interview before bailing. Thats all been part of the experience though and to be honest I've loved every second of it, I have no qualms that I'm anybody in this sport (I definitely ain't), and am quite happy to listen to and ask others about their experiences and knowledge of the game.
great story but mate no names makes it a **** one at least tell us who pissed you off also i think you would make a good poofreader I think you should get onto Hyder straight away
ur so full of sht Leon.. to which i point out to you that you made not one mention of Dannyweight in the article, yet you make a joke of me pointing this out in an attempt to brush it aside, then act all seriouse in other posts claiming you are neutral and write it how you see it blah blah blah. DID you not see BJ Flores drop his undies to make 195LB? did you not know that CW is 200LB? Why didnt you mention it in the article if you write it how you see it ya one eyed dck sucking karnt? truth is, if you dont write a fluffy article it wont get published and you wont get no more free tickets to shows, ur basicly a sell out dead sht karnt. Not sure why its so hard for you to admit that but its all good, keep on pissing in everyones pocket!
Maybe you could cut and paste the appropriate section of my article of that fight where I was at the weigh in. Just how brain dead are you. This has been gone over a million times and it still hasn't sunk into that sponge-like substance that would barely qualify as a brain in most medical laboratories. Flores chose to take a cash inducement to come in at 195, thinking he could make the weight, collect some coin, and win. He managed two of those. It was not contracted to come in at 195. It. was. a. choice. The limit was 200, and he was well within his rights to weigh in at 200 and ignore the extra coin. He did not. Beyond explaining it to you with some colorful crayon pictures, I'm not sure how many more times I can explain this to you. If you had even read the article, which I seriously doubt, you may find it had a lot more to do with the before and after and the people who were there, in fact theres minimal mention of the fight in my report. But as is your want, never let facts get in the way of your half baked conspiracies.
Heaven help us if you cover Dale 'Boom Boom' Berry's debut for Fist. The tears and moaning coming out of Albury will be ****ing unbearable
I read the article and it was fluffy. Like i said, not one mention of the weight bullsht, and now from your own admision barely any mention of the fight at all haha, enough said.
