Shane Carwin gets short changed - Why Fedor should stay in M1/Strikeforce

Discussion in 'MMA Forum' started by monaroCountry, Jun 25, 2010.

  1. People often say that Fedor should fight in the big leagues where fighters are handsomely rewarded, people have said that the UFC treats its fighters fairly. Shame Carwin is definately one of the best/if not the best HW fighters in the UFC, yet because of the very one sided contract and fighter treatment................HE ONLY GETS PAID $40,000 to fight and ONLY $40,000 if he wins. Thats a maximum of $80,000 to put his body on the line, yet Dana White's net worth is over $100 million. Fedor's base pay on the other hand is probably closer to $2 million, if that was me I would stay in M1 as well.

I don't blame fedor for not fighting in the UFC. He gets paid more fighting in strikeforce or m-1 than fighting in the ufc. It's pretty bad how ufc pay their fighter shitless even if they were champions.

Most champions gets paid like 100-150 thousands each fight while other organization like dream paid fedor 1-2 million in his fight with sylvia and sylvia got 800K.

I heard this on MMA Live 40,000 to show up is embarrasing. Also I hear Zuffa doesnt like him because he doesnt promote much.

  5. Shane is actually a standout type of guy, and doesnt have his head up Dana's. The only thing is that Shane isnt a 2hit talker and just doesnt have the promotional value of someone like Brock.

$40k is pretty bad isnt it?

Wow. So Dana has UFC shows all the time and they supposedly always do good numbers.

So where the hell is all that money going to? If the main even fighter is only making a probable 80K im sure the undercard guys are making much less.

Where is all the money Dana!? And this guy talks **** about boxing promoters.

Fedor is clearly ducking the UFC.

Why else would he refuse to leave a business he co-owns to fight lower ranked guys for far less pay in an organisation he doesn't even like?

Sponsors don't count jackass, sponsors will follow him where ever he goes, besides half of them are probably BANNED by the UFC anyway.

I think the pay structure is a good one. It will slowly go up but $40k is a yearly salary for many. He doubles that after winning and his sponsors probably provide him with endless kit. In comparison to boxers, athletes etc his money is poor but I do like the structure. He won $65k ko bonus at UFC 111.

The pay structure is designed for guys who come to fight and come to win.

Bonus related pay? Tell that to the guys on the prelims. $40K is peanuts. I wouldnt get out of bed for that. I earn more than that without getting punched in the head.

It's nice these guys are hungry and willing to fight for that kind of money, but you gotta consider what the UFC makes off them (i don't know) to judge what is fair. these guys are litterally putting their health on the line each fight and unless you're randy couture you only got about prolly 7 prime years (after learning the sport and working your way up) and will have to live another 40 years or more afterwards

The UFC is making loads of money no doubt but the pay is going up, the bonuses are going up and the UFC is spending alot of money to take MMA to new domains. For example, recently in Canada I understand they paid silly insurance money but went ahead with it. Going to the UAE, UK, setting up offices in Canada etc It takes money to make money.

I'm not saying the UFC are angels but their system breeds much hungrier fighters. You think once a fighter has earned 10 mil he will fight when the UFC ask him to! Fedor is showing the issue with an org not running the show. Fedor is making good money but he isn't fighting the best heavies in the world.
