The fight between he and Margarito should've been for the welterweight title ... and now it seems as though that (should the Floyd and Pacquiao fight happen) Pac/Floyd would be for the legitimized welterweight championship.

What luck ... Shane is being screwed over !!

Hopefully Shane can get the winner (Floyd) of Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

    The Ring title?

Well, they sometimes have #1 vs. #3 to fill a title vacancy (Calzaghe-Lacy, V.Klitschko-Sanders) and sometimes they don't, as in the case with Margarito-Mosley.

I don't think Mosley at this point really cares all that much for the Ring belt anyway, he just wants the fight with one of those 2 for the money and what it'll do for his place in history.

No it shouldn't. Mosley had lost his last fight at welterweight to Miguel Cotto. How does that qualify him to fight for the 'welterweight title'?

It was for the WBA title big man !!!! , are you referring to the lineal title ????

In my eyes Floyd Pac is the ideal fight for the lineal status after all Floyd never lost it in the ring !!!!!

Because he had defeated Margarito who was considered to be the man at welterweight.

What? Did you even read the thread? How had he defeated Margarito before he fought Margarito?

I'm was referring to Mosely beating Margarito after losing to Cotto. Many posters on this site considered Margo the man at welterweight based on his victory over Cotto. Shane's victory over Margarito should have positioned him as the man to beat at welterweight but so far it hasn't.

Margo's win over Cotto is tainted as its very likely he loaded for that fight too.

However, Mosley deserves a fight with PBF or Pac, due to his big win and due to the name hes made for himself over the last decade.

Most people didn't consider Margarito 'the man' due to the fact that he had lost to Paul Williams a couple of fights earlier. Going into the Margarito/Cotto fight the consensus rankings were Cotto - Williams - Margarito. That's why Mosley is not Ring Champion, nor considered linear champion by anyone with any credibility.

Once we agree that Margarito was no linear welterweight champion going into the fight with Mosley, there is then no argument at all to consider that fight to create a new champion (which is what the OP appears to suggest) as Mosley had lost his last fight at the weight prior to it.

Actually Mosley's last fight before that was against Ricardo Mayorga with he won by knock out.
