    The aftertimer is here!
No surprise? You never mentioned it before. You could have got good odds on a Clarke win.

I'd never seen Clarke actually so couldn't make a prediction. I do wish I had have looked him up now! By ' no surprise' I mean there's been yet another loss to the Ingle gym. So many of their so called best prospects just get iced the second they step up because of the fundamentally flawed style, and the way they get gassed in the gym to think they are better than they really are. '' The New Joe Calzaghe''

Disgrace, abandoned his fighter and dragged him to world level for a cheeky payday before dropping him. Humiliated tonight by a much less glamourous team of McNally and honestly discredited himself. Any upcoming fighter needs to ask himself does this trainer have my best interests at heart.

Tbf its a good earner for all concerned. Fowlers 30 years old...its now or never. I think they all knew they we,re up against it but so are almost 50 percent of fighters every week up and down the country.

He had a go tonight....and came up short. Time to go back down a level and see if he can come again. Thats how the game works. Smith done the same thing against canelo.

Biggest payday of fowlers career. You,ve got to take the fight imo.

Exactly. No point just fighting European journeymen for the rest of his career. He can do that for his next fight when he rebuilds.

Oh dear oh dear. You are having a nightmare defending the negligence of his team. Do you think Fowler couldn't fill the Echo with a couple of good showings!? Poor form but well meaning post.

I agree with that and if his team showed any compassion or care for their fighter I would agree it was the right choice. Even a blind man could see Fowler was abandoned from round 1. He was a man alone vs Smith who had a full team of actual humans who care about his well being.

What is it his team done so wrong?

Its not like fowlers 22 and needing time to develop. Hes 30 years old...its probably downhill in the next year or two. I dont think he,d have faired any better at that level in a couple of years time.

Could we see AJ go to Shane? might not be a bad move for him.

Hundreds of rounds of sparring might be a bad move for anyone long term.

Smith just lost to Euro level Kurbanov he's hardly a top 10 fighter, Fowler is 30 and this was a winnable fight for him that would lead to a world level fight
