Shane Mosley('99) vs Pernell Whitaker ('93) @ 135

Whitaker for sure!.. MUCH better jab, defence, straight left (vs Shane's looping right). Way too sharp.

 

Like all 135 Mosley fantasy fights, ITS A TOSS UP.

Whitaker is no doubt a legend of the sport and one of the craftiest ever. But like others have mentioned, Whitaker (even in his prime) struggled at numerous occasions in several fights. Whitaker was the best but he definitely showed someholes in his game that could be exploited.

Mosley was just a straight up BEAST at 135. His power and speed were just absolutely insane. Hell his knockout ratio was better than GGGs (34W, 0L, 0D, 32KO). People here are also downplaying his ring IQ, Mosley was really smart himself and had excellent style to him. There is a reason why people considered him perhaps the greatest lightweight since Duran.

Anyway this fight (like all others regarding 135lb Mosley) can never be decided. Mosley left 135lb early so we never got to see him dominate his prime weight like other great lightweights. IMO Mosley would no doubt give any great lightweight a run for their money, but as to the outcome of the fight.....that will forever remain unkown.
