Think about it. If Shane Mosley fights Manny Pacquiao on May 7th. He will have fought every single significant 147 or 154 pounder of his time over a 11 year span.(Didn't fight Felix Trinidad who moved up the middleweight in 2001 before a Mosley fight could happen)

World Champions some Future Hall of Fame Fighters, some All Time greats:
    Winky Wright
    Vernon Forrest
    Fernando Vargas
    Miguel Cotto
    Antonio Margarito
    Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    Oscar De La Hoya
    Manny Pacquiao??

    Top Notch Contenders:
    Antonio Diaz
    Luis Collazo

Add in the fact he was 32-0 champion as a lightweight beating a few quality guys like John John Molina, Jesse James Leija and Philip Holiday in the process.

Yet this guy gets no respect....not an once from people. Yea I know the whole steroid thing. But it was one fight not a whole career.

I can only think of 3 guys over the last 20 years who have faced similar opposition over an extended period of years. Oscar De La Hoya, Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao.

Now do I think he beat Pacquiao...No. But he is quite possibly the most battle tested and proven Welterweight of his generation. Winning his share of big fights.

    Thoughts?

Maybe, but still that is one ****ing resume.

Why on earth he decided to fight Winky I have no idea. Don't agree with some of your All Time Greats though, Forrest, Vargas, Cotto and Margarito?

He's not trying to hype the fight. He's showing Shane respect that's well deserved, and wondering why people keep bashing him like he's not a Champ.

Not to take away from Mosley who's one of my faves but you're getting carried away. Magarito certainly is not heading anywhere near the hall of fame or cementing his legacy as an all time great for one.

Cotto and Vargas proabably aren't either.

    neither is Vernon Forrest RIP

top notch very good champions though and Mosley has an amazing resume for sure but I don't get the point of this thread....I rarely ever see anyone on here hating on Mosley, Mosley's one of the more respected fighters on these forums for sure

Bet your house Cotto is getting into the Hall of Fame. He isn't appearing on any solid top 100 lists though.

You ****ing people cant read. The initial post said SOME welter champs, SOME hall of famers, and SOME all time greats. He didnt say all of them were you idiots. Shane Mosley should be the most respected active boxer in my opinion. Mother ****er is a throw back fighter in every sense, gave us some incredible fights and always tried his best. Hope he kicks pac mans ass, and im a huge pac fan but Shane deserves to go out on a high note for all the tough challenges hes taken.

i dont remeber shane ducking anyone.

if anything hes been stupid by fighting people like winky who were so big and such nightmares to face style wise for him.

he always comes to fight,he wont give in like clottey.

shane always has killer KO power.

and his speed is still there somewhat, and the chin and heart is good still.

pac will make shane look past it,like floyd did,but that dont mean he is.

just cuz a guy gets beat by 2 other atgs doesnt mean he cant compete and beat top guys who are lesser than pac and floyd.

Even though Shane is my favourite active fight you can't tell people to respect him more than any other fight for one reason:

I'm sure an old man who gave both Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright their two biggest fights when no one else would can be forgiven for overlooking a freak of nature in Paul Williams. Don't make a big deal out of something that clearly isn't a big deal.

Shane should get some props no matter what people think of the fight against Pacquiao.

Shane's had a great career, for the most part. Hopefully, he leaves the sport with another great performance, and his faculties intact.

I love him for all he's done, but wish he'd STOP fighting everybody.
