The reason i say that is......

I dont think DLH can handle fighters who reset him and move over after punching, unless he knocks them out of coarse (Oba Carr)

DLH stalks too much and needs to be set to throw.

I think speed and movement was always his achilles heel, infact i felt Mayweather beat him by constantly turning him, when DLH had Mayweather more stationary he was able to get off but Floyd used his legs more down the stretch and DLH faded.

The DLH of the mid to late 2000s fought extremely differnt than the LW-WW DLH of the 90's.

Oscar use to just throw a bunch of combinations, and he did it at any angle. Even the punch the pretty much KO Vargas was thrown from an awkward angle.

True but i think he went back to his old ways when he took Roach on and left Mayweather sr.

DLH is too flat footed and robotic to handle someone who darts in and out, uses speed and punches off the angles, he cant avoid the punches because of this imo, although i agree he is capable of counter punching back at certain times. I actually thought DLH countered well with the right hand when he fought Whitaker.

Mosley beat De La Hoya twice.

When Mosley was fighting Winky Wright twice Mayweather was fighing the brilliant Victoriano Sosa, Phillip N'dou and nearrly been knocked the Fu*k out by DeMarcus Corley.

well that true tittle holder was the Champion. Its unusual for a champion to get dismantled like that. I dont think Shane will win but Floyds infor a Wild Night

Oscar De La Hoya is just as good if not better than Mosley.

Mayweather is also 5 years younger than Mosley and was a weight class or two below Shane for most of their careers. It was Shane who wanted no part of Mayweather at that time.

Love your carefully selected names trying to prove a point. You're only fooling yourself. Mayweather slaughtered Corley as well BTW.

Unusual if your new to boxing.

I've seen Champions get beat and dominated in the 15 years I've been following boxing.

What Mosley did to Margarito is impressive, but styles make fights. Margarito would never be a WW champion in the 90's.

    UliUli,

how long have you been watching boxing for? Have you seen SSM 9 straight titel defenses when he was a lightweight in the 90's? he did not move to welterweight until after he was 30. When he jumped two weight classes to 147 from 135 and beat de la hoya and was KO'ing real welters this was the highlight of his career. Look at his fights vs shannon taylor, antonio diaz, golden johnson , willy wise. He absoultey demolished the B LEVEL FIGHTERS in a roy jones combined with robert duran type fashion. "POWER BOXING." as pbf is the defensive genius, in his prime SSM was an offensive powerhouse.

POST 2000, he has fought all the top guys from 147 to 154. This is not something floyd has done. FULL STOP. FLOYD HAS fought good comp. the difference with shane is that he always took the most dangerous fights, not just good comp. Imagine if floyd fought teh below guys.

    WINKY WRIGHT 2x
    VERNON FORREST 2x
    DE LA HOYA 2x
    COTTO
    MAYORGA
    VARGAS
    COLLAZO
    MARGARITO

So to answer your original quetion, Mosley is highly regarded bc he took on all the tough fights. He was always competitive, when he won he won impressively and destroyed his opponents with blistering combinations, footword and head movement. When he lost he fought valiantly, so his heart also won the fans. HAS IT occured to you that SSM has as many KO's as floyd has wins?

I find it sad that bc of his few inconsistent performances, fans like yourself are not able to truly understand what a great fighter is.

Ive been a fan of Mosley since the amatuers. He has always kicked ass. And, I hope new boxing fans look at him the same way. He deserves to be overrated IMO. He should get all the praise that he can get. Always fighting the best. Never giving excuses. Dude is what we want from our superstar boxers.

WELL SAID, I think everyone is basing there opinion on the Shane that beat Margarito, Go bach further he looked awfull against Collazo. Shane does good against typical come forward aggressive types a la Vargas, Mayorga and the list goes on. Against defensive masters he does not do well "AT ALL" a la Winkey Wright 2004 x 2. ALL Hype to build up a fight, any half educated fan knows Mayweather will school shane after 3 rounds, and win a wide UD. If he dont I WILL EAT MY SHOE
