Been around boxing for awhile and I know a good bit about numbing agents. These "numbing" agents are no different than steroids in that Fighter A gets an advantage over Fighter B. Without the help of those agents one fighter may succumb to his "Natural" limitations.

We dont know PBF uses Xylocaine though do we? We don't have the slightest bit of proof also Xylocaine has not been ruled illegal. So we are not comparing apples with apples here.

I like Shane too, but lets face it he lied and cheated (albeit a long time ago) I'm not worried about it now but he is a fool if he expects everyone to forgive and forget.

If this was Mayweather who had got caught cheating he would have been crucified, the hypocrisy is with the fans not the fighter!

Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. Steroids will benefit any fighter. Xylocaine won't make a bit of difference to a fighter with healthy hands. If Xylocaine were no different than steroids than it wouldn't be legal. Without the aid of contacts, a near sighted athlete might will definately succomb to his "natural" limitations.

He has admitted it on HBO years ago. Ive been trying like hell to find my tape of it. I cant remember which one it was but I think he admitted it in the ring after his fight with Hernandez during Merchants post fight interview or he admitted in a prefight interview piece on one of his next fights. I remember very well because I was angry that he got away with using it but Tyson had recently gotten his KO over Golota in the same state stripped for testing positive for Marijuana (which if anything is a performance inhibitor...) if you remember that was the fight Floyd injured both hands and took a knee on one occasion because he hurt his hand so bad. Imagine if he hadnt been taking pain killers? Would he still be undefeated?

i like mosley, but he's most likely lying. pacquiao might be taking **** aswell, we don't know because he refuses to take the tests and his reason for that is because he'll be to weak 14 days prior to the fight.

anyway, shane is clean now, and he's a hell of a fighter.

His point is that by using numbing agents you gain an unfair advantage that mother nature didnt afford you. The only time Floyd has been down in his career was when he took a knee against Hernandez from the pain in his hand. Without numbing agents who is to say that he wouldnt be undefeated if his hands hurt so bad to take a knee? Furthermore, numbing agents are illegal in most states. You mention contacts but I recall several years ago when there was a controversy that Tiger Woods had gotten Lasiks surgery on his eyes giving him better than 20/20 vision. Some people complained about this. Where do you draw the line? I would certainly draw it with Pain Killers and Steroids.

No sir clearly YOU don't know what you're talking about. A fighter with brittle hands has a Natural inabilty to stay in there and fight. I've witnessed this over several years in the gym and working around boxing. It's also KNOWN who can and can't stand in there and trade. Many boxers careers die in the gym because they can't take the physical punishment involved with training. And it is illegal in most states because it is believed to cause health problems in later life. Many believe Ali is a victim to pain shots to his hands and blame his current state on there effects. I'm giving you gym talk and it's known there are MANY fighters on designer steroids, pain killers/shots, insulin shots, etc. It's all in the name of gaining an advantage. I don't know if you've spent much time in the gym but if you haven't cozy up to some old timers and they will tell you guys have been cheatin forever!

That's if you use it without protocol and respect and too much.

The FDA has no bans on Xylocaine.

Yup. Good thing Floyd realized, 40 fights into his career, that cheating has been happening "forever" & that, after fighting Marquez, it's time to finally clean things up. Not because it relates to Mosley or Pacquiao, but because it relates to the sport as a whole.

You guys don't even know the rules. First off, you can only use xylocaine up to the week of the fight. So it will only benefit you during training. And yes, they do test for it. Second if it gives you such an unfair advantage, why doesn't everyone use it? They alleged that Floyd was using this stuff 8 years ago. If he had been using it on a consistent basis since then, his hands would be totally ****ed as he would be punching with them while they were damaged and would have no idea. This is a completely ridiculous and idiotic debate. The fact that people are actually trying to classify a numbing agent as a PED is stupifying. Numbing agents are regularly used in just about every sport. Xylocaine is not even on WADA's banned substance list.
