Shane Mosley: how highly do you rate him all-time p4p?

I put alot of emphasis on the the DLH fight because we are talkinga bout greatness here. I feel that to define a fighter being great, he has to cross that line by beating a "great" fighter. That is what Mosley did on the 1st fight. I never implied that I thought Mosley won the 2nd fight, just arguing the case for those who may have thought he won both and Tito lost his. Tito on the other hand has 1 great fighter prime on his resume, and he lost to him by most peoples accounts.

If you are an A fighter are you not expected to beat B level fighters? Wether you beat 1 or 10 is pretty irrelevant to me IMO. If you are an A level fighter however and has beaten many A level fighters, then surely you have surpassed that A level mark...thats where you approach greatness. Thats just an example and im not implying that prime Vargas was a B level fighter at all. Simply put, I put alot more emphasis o quality over quantity. Someone can be undefeated with 100-0 record and 80 title defense for all I care, if they havent beaten anyone who i perceive to be an elite, then they arent elite.

OK we agree that Morales resume is better than BHop. Next, you think BHop is an ATG MW and better p4p. This same ATG MW drew with Mercado, lost decisively to RJJ(nothing to be ashamed of) and lost to Taylor twice. Will not hold the Calzaghe loss as he was way past his prime. IMO, Morales at BW-FW was much more impressive, he beat every man he faced and he faced plenty of tough challengers. 2 being ATG's in their prime...thats all I gotta say on that subject really. But hey, thats my opinion. :good

He was robbed against Tito, that word rob is thrown around here lightly but in this case its true. Taking that into account + his wins over pea, chavez, vargas(who wasnt past prime) & quartey is alot of bonus. Throw in the fact that he should also possibly have a W against Mosley and even at 35 still managed to SD Floyd, I think he has an outstanding resume. If Oscar got enough decisions sway his way in his career, he would be legendary comparable to the likes of SRL.

SSM is vastly underrated. All three guys he lost to would have been favored to beat his contemporaries: Trinidad, DLH and PBF.

Had he gone the PBF route and cherry picked guys like Baldomir instead of fighting Winky and Forrest, he would be undefeated too.

    Definitely in the top 100.

I think you could make a good case around 50. I think he was one of the best lightweights of all time for sure despite not that great of a record.

And he does have good victories over DLH x2, Mayorga, Vargas x2, Leija, Wise, and a few others whose names escape me.

I actually think Mosley would whoop PBF at 135.

But PBF has definitely carried his abilities up to WW much better than Mosley...PBF is just as fast there, and had a better frame for it.

so he got robbed against tito but has a win over pea and a sd against pbf and a possible win over mosely? that is not fair cuz pea and pbf got robbed against dlh...his best win ever was vargas and that was dead even until he kod him

imo he beat tito and vargas and thats it...and he threw that tito fight away by running for four rds even though he had 7 in the bank

The Quartey fight was far from "clean". The 12th round makes people forget how many rounds DLH stood there doing nothing and how fortunate he was to get the nod.

Mosley's frame was bigger than Mayweather at both 135 and 147. Mosley's frame looked good for a WW against DLH. He outweighed DLH on fight night and didn't look to be at a size disadvantage against the more experienced welter.

And Mosley looked great at 147 up to the Forrest fight. He never looked better than he did in the first fight with DLH. He was just up against a good fighter in Forrest who had the right gameplan (unlike DLH) to capitalize on Mosley's flaws.

based on legacy he would'nt be in my top ten but h2h he would be in my top5 because in his prime he could've beaten any fighter from 135-154
