Dib takes heart from Sugar Shane By Grantlee Kieza July 15, 2008 12:00am UNDEFEATED Billy Dib will be boosted by the support of one of history's greatest boxers for his world title fight this month when Sugar Shane Mosley arrives in Sydney today. Dib, who is unbeaten in 20 fights, tackles South African Zolani Marali for the IBO junior-lightweight (59kg) title at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on July 30. Mosley, who has held world titles at three weights and twice beat the great Oscar De La Hoya, will be in Dib's corner for the big fight. "Having Shane here is a huge boost for my confidence,'' Dib said. "He will help my trainer Johnny Lewis and my conditioning coach Michael Rasso in the lead-up. "Shane has a huge fight coming up against (former world champ) Ricardo Mayorga in October and for him to take time out to travel all the way over here from Los Angeles to help me for this bout is just such a huge gesture. "He and Oscar De La Hoya promoted my last five fights in America and their support has been invaluable.'' Dib, 22, faces a tough time against the 31-year-old Marali, who has also had 20 fights, for 19 wins, and who is also a former IBO super-bantamweight champ. "He's a good boxer,'' Dib said. "But I've watched his last six fights and I believe I have the skills to beat him.'' Dib's fight will be on the same card as Anthony Mundine's bout against Japanese middleweight "Crazy Kim'' and Mundine will meet with Mosley in the hopes of securing a high profile fight in America. that line about him maybe helping mundine secure a big fight is interesting, hope it comes off for all the slanging of him hes got talent and i hope he uses he just gives me the ****n shits, id love it if sugar shane did a few exhibition spars down here, would be an honour to see him, maybe him and tzyu can organise something...
as kim is a middle, does that mean mudine is fighting him at middle? i could understand mundine fighting a middle of kims 'quality' to test his strength after the new weight loss.
Cos the IBO isnt a real world title and Anthony is the reason why everyone who watches it, will be tuning in.
Will the Shane be in sydney by any chance??? if he is i'll full go hang around out the front of his gym for a chance to meet him
