Yes he does, he has a heavy tongue. You can even tell he slows down his talking, to consciously prevent the stumbling over words, there are other recent interviews where he is slurring like crazy. I just didn't bother replying to him, to prevent this thread from being derailed. On topic, it's scary Mosley is still fighting, I think the general consensus here is that he is definitely not right... he is showing all the signs of brain damage, I notice it heavily because I watched all his earlier fights, and notice drastic differences in his speech from the early 2000's... anyone saying he has always talked that way is misinformed. I'm seriously worried about his health, because he is still fighting, and taking serious amounts of blows, especially when you consider all the sparring. People forget, it's not just the matches, these guys spar MANY MORE rounds than they fight, there are an enormous amount of accumulated blows over time from sparring alone. I'm positive it's James Toney's obsession with sparring that has brain damaged him. He is a very defensively sound fighter, yet is known to completely abandon road work, and do nothing but spar every single day. I can't imagine how many blows he must have taken...
Glad to hear Evander talking well like that, he has sounded a lot worse in the past. He doesn't seem to be the type to use recreation drugs, so I don't know what was the cause of him sounding punch drunk .
Maybe he received speech therapy, it is effective for some in overcoming speech problems from brain damage. I mean you have to figure, people who suffer traumatic brain injuries from accidents and such, whose speech was dramatically affected, have been able to benefit greatly from it. I see no reason why many boxers couldn't either. Evander is definitely sounding better, and I don't think he is out abusing drugs either, so I am banking on speech therapy.
completely forgot he fought with a concussion for most of the Forrest fight. He was never the same after that fight.
ODLH/Mosley I was no war. It was high-speed chess which featured Shane baffling Oscar with his speed early, Oscar ad******g and outboxing him, and a frustrated Shane desperately switching to southpaw to give Oscar a different look and throw his timing off. The war did not happen until the 12th round, and it mostly featured Shane peppering Oscar over and over with right hands. There was one brutal round in the Forrest fights and it changed the course of history. Shane, after suffering a headbutt, ate a clean right and was staggered badly. He then took a brutal uppercut along the ropes and another right hand for his insistence upon staying upright. Vern hurt him later in the fight to the body, but that's about it. Nothing really happened in the second fight. Brutal beating suffered at the hands of Winky Wright? Let's just move on, shall we? Mayweather tagged him pretty cleanly, but he's not really a big puncher. He hit Guerrero with the same shots a couple of weeks ago and never seriously hurt him. The Cotto fight had some good back and forth, but it was Cotto who was running away at the end. Good action fight, but no war; and certainly no sustained beating. Shane has been around forever and has fought almost all of the greats of his time. He also has tremendous heart and had a cast iron chin. Maybe, in a cumulative sense, that's all it really takes to put someone at risk of developing brain damage.
:huh I hope that you're talking about recently because his resume is full of sustained beatings (Cotto, Forrest I & II, Vargas I, Mayorga). Hell, even Cruz lit Shane up.
I just spent like fifteen minutes typing a response above. Do read it. It's okay if you disagree. :good
How about the Pacquiao fight? Pacquiao is known to be a power puncher, and peppered Mosley's face all night long with straight lefts. Mosley was begging his corner after the 10th round to stop the fight, but Nazzim refused to do so. Mayweather DOES have legitimate power when he sits down on his shots. Go to 1:20 in round 8 of the Mayweather-Mosley fight, you can see Mayweather's power, with one of the most devastating straight rights I've ever seen him deliver. Against Shane, he really sat down on his shots, Shane looked legitimately hurt a couple different times in that fight, especially in the aforementioned shot. Guerrero has a fantastic chin, Floyd not knocking him out isn't indicative of a lack of punching power, and Floyd was able to sit down on his shots more against Mosely, as Shane got completely discouraged and wasn't pressing the action at all anymore. Canelo is another great puncher, and he hit Mosely in the face at will during that fight. You're a good poster, and made some valid points, but I definitely have to say Shane Mosley has taken some serious beatings in his career.
Dr Shawhigh as history of fixing this dont tell me that the in active dirrellivant can afford this and not mr millonaire mosley
In my opinion, he'd had a few too many. You can see it in his eyes. I think this was filmed late one fri or sat night. It's definitely the drink in my opinion.
