Since we're on the subject. I'd like to mention an ESPN show called 30 on 30. The one I saw was about the Ali-Holmes fight. For those of you who did'nt get the chance to watch it, do yourself a favor and see it. I had no idea that Ali was so far gone at that time. Ali had trouble working he speed bag and was not at all in any way shape or form ready for that fight. That fight should have never been made. Very sad, so much so that I lost a little respect for the sport andI'm a life long fan.
I don't know anything about his personal life. If he doesn't drink AT ALL, then he can't have been drunk. But I honestly thought he was drunk, by looking at his eyes and his mannerisms.
Holyfield was never an eloquent speaker. He always talked like this however he was at his worse prior to the James Toney fight where he couldn't even say "James". Holyfield is getting old so some of it could be just aging but I don't deny he has taken too many punches and been in too many wars and should hang them up. 50 is too old for boxing.
Still sounds ok to me. Now Broner sounds like he already got brain damage for stuttering, not making any sense, and inability to string sentences.
Of course I don't wish brain damage on him He's one of the good guys in boxing who had a typical middle life crisis moment I'd like him to get out of the game, hopefully with a code of million Open up a sea food restaurant and enjoy his retirement. Punches to the skull are no way to live your life
Well put dude. :good This is undoubtedly true, but it is alot more noticeable in some, than others. Look at George Foreman, you'd never guess he was a boxer if you hadn't already known, he has absolutely perfect speech, shows ZERO signs of any brain damage. Sugar Ray Leonard is another guy whom speaks absolutely perfect, shows no effects from boxing. Do you have to be a 5 star chef to know if a meal sucks? Do you have to be a movie director to know if a movie sucks? No. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to hear his heavy tongue, mumbling over words, and stuttering. I never said he was punch drunk, I said he was showing the beginning signs of brain damage. It has been scientifically proven that it is degenerative, and the damage continues to accumulate even after they stop taking punches. Hopefully I've enlightened you, you're a true ignoramus, and part of the demographic who doesn't know how to respectfully argue. Your type is what makes this board shittier by the day; the only idiot between the two of us is yourself. I'm going to watch that ASAP. I do know that in the interviews before the fight, he was slurring horribly, I couldn't believe they were going to let him fight . **** all the "yes men" in his camp who never gave a **** about him, and milked him for every dollar they could. I knew when Angelo Dundee walked out, refusing to train Ali anymore knowing he was showing signs of brain damage, that was the last guy who really cared about him in his camp. I'm guessing he has received speech therapy, because he is sounding a bit better, but there are no guarantees for what he might be like in 5-10 years... or even after 1 more war. He needs to retire immediately. Broner is just an incoherent moron, he has always sounded like a hood rat. Glad to hear that. :good
Damage is damage, but you are right the affects on the individual person vary. Regardless though, the damage is there and it will get progressively worse no matter what. These are just the facts. Maybe you don't want to see it, but yes you can tell that Foreman and Leonard were Boxers. Just like you can tell that Mayweather is. Look at any tape of them young and now. The stammering, repeating phrases, losing names and trains of thought in rapid discussion are all signs. Hell you show me a guy who does a few years of good hard sparring and I bet people who knew him forever can tell. I love Boxing and have the utmost respect for guys who do this, but let's not delude ourselves. Brain damage and Boxing go together like swimming and getting wet. Mosely has it worse than many, but they all have it.
Im with you.. he's just drunk look at the glassy eyes and the wat he's wobbling about and the silly grin on his face at 51 seconds. bit of slurring and wat not after bending the elbow is probly nothing different to what a lot of us sound like on a friday and sat night!
