Shane Mosley says Mayweather hits as hard as Canelo

I doubt this is true. Mayweather couldn't even hurt Baldomir (to be fair, neither could Forrest or Judah) and Canelo put him to sleep.

Mayweather isn't feather fisted but I would almost guarantee that if both him and Canelo were tested for punching power, Floyd's punches would be less powerful.

 

He's 41. He's done, DONE.

 

In his prime Mosley was always the faster fighter.
Mosley's at the stage in his career now that he gets intimidated when someone is faster than he is as he's not accustomed to fighting at a speed disadvantage.

Mosley quit vs Pacquiao because he could'nt cope with his speed.
Getting hit with a shot he did'nt see coming created an illusion and feel that Pacquiao was punching harder than he really was.


I believe Canelo hits harder, but to Mosley it must feel that Mayweather does because of the speed in which Mayweather throws his punches.
Canelo is'nt as fast, so against him, Mosley is better able to brace for the punches and take them better.

Imo Canelo hits harder followed by Mayweather and then Pacquiao!

Learn to differentiate when and why a fighter gets KO'd .
When a figher is shot, lesser fighters could KO him when an elite in the past could'nt.

Baldomir was well past it when Canelo short circuited him, so you cant reason that because Canelo knocked out Baldomir, he's a better puncher than Mayweather.
I believe Canelo is the better puncher, but punching out a shot Baldomir is'nt the reason to believe that.

 

Well to be fair, Canelo makes people go up in wieght so considering he is able to hurt older fighters like Mosley, and other fighters below 154, comming up and having an age handicap, it's not hard to hurt somebody in such a scenario. While Floyd is sometimes smaller than his opponents when they are better; I don't think it should be debated Floyd has fought better quality opponents.

And no it's not bias, it's pure logic. Right now, I think Canelo hits harder as he is very young and Floyd is getting older, but before, maybe in the Mosley fight in which Mosley still had some of his power and in fights before, maybe Floyd hit as hard as Canelo.

I'm having a hard time believing that Mayweather hits harder then canelo but who knows also note Canelo is only 22 so by the time he's 26-27-28 could be a totally different story

 

I gotta disagree, tho you are right technically they weren't illegal punches, they were still sucker punches. Of course, Ortiz is not new to being a sucker, he did instigate the whole circus, and he shoulda, woulda, but didn't. Floyd without a doubt has pop and great shot placement, but you can't tell me he hits harder than Berto! No way buddy! Have Berto sucker punch Ortiz and I bet Berto would put him to sleep! 2 very different scenerios don't tell me just because Floyd ko'd Ortiz with sucker punches he punches harder than Berto. I really don't think so.

 

That's true but he also carefully picks his opponents and IMO stays away from fighters he isn't sure he can beat.

 

Once again, I was not citing the KO as evidence of Mayweather's power.

Mayweather was able to keep Ortiz honest because he has better power than he's given credit for. If he didn't have pop, Ortiz would've walked through him like he did Berto.

Berto likely punches harder than Mayweather, but he isn't good at using it to keep guys off of him. He's not very difficult to crowd, which has happened to him numerous times. Give Berto the timing of Mayweather and he'd have knocked Ortiz and Guerrero cold.

I don't want to get off track but there is no way someone can know for sure that they can beat someone. I've had plenty of sparring experience and even if you watch someone before getting in the ring you can never be sure.

Most people think they can win but there is usually always one loser so what does that say about the person who lost? They knew they were going to lose? It's not rational to think that.

Mayweather most likely believes he can beat everyone just like any other boxer until someone proves otherwise. Also he has had a long career and fought extremely good competition from an early age calling out Oscar and Shane when they were beasts.

It's naive to suggest he only fights people he can beat. There isn't a single fighter around his weight class he wouldn't be heavily favoured to beat anyway not one.:
