i'm a distant admirer of shane mosley. i like the way he fights but i haven't seen all of his career.

for those that saw the forrest fights, what did you make of them? why do you think forrest was able to beat mosley twice?

Forrest had Mosley's number. He had beaten him in the amateurs too. That makes 3 times.

    And Mayorga beat Forrest twice.

    Sometimes it don't make sense

Forrest beat Mosley in a one-sided fashion dropping him in the 2nd round after an accidental headbutt. The second fight wasn't as entertaining but I liked it and Mosley is my fav fighter. Forrest was able to outjab Mosley and beat him to the punch like he did in the first fight. Mayorga was too wild for Forrest and unable for Forrest to figure out. He "knocked Forrest out" in their first fight but I felt that stoppage was a bit premature. Mayorga gives Mosley fits but gets knocked down and then knocked out in the 12th round. Styles really do make fights. It just shows you that Fighter A(Forrest) can beat Fighter B(Mosley), Fighter B beats Fighter C(Mayorga), But that doesn't mean Fighter A beats Fighter C. Isn't Boxing the greatest sport?

Why was Forrest able to beat Mosley twice? Firstly because he was an absolute world-class fighter to match, and secondly styles. Mosley is not a boxer, he is primarily a come-forward brawler, just more skilled offensively than most and combining speed and power with a great chin.

But Forrest had everything to trouble him. An excellent defense, reach, and very good boxing skills along with size, presence and strength to match him.

I think it all came down to the head-butt. The head-butt was a big reason Shane took such a beating in the second round. Shane never recovered from the beating he took in the second round which resulted in him taking a beating throughout the fight. The beating he took throughout the fight damaged his confidence which is why he fought so negatively in the second fight. I think he could have won the second fight had he stopped worrying so much about Forrest's right hand. Still, Forrest was a great welterweight, especially head to head, and I think he would have won the first fight head-butt or no, just not in such dominant fashion.
