And wait for Mundine to bang on about beating a HOFer. That guy really is one of the biggest pricks in boxing.

He beat the same mosley that floyd went 12 competitive rounds with hmmm just saying. Mundine does have a very awkward patient style that would give floyd problems.

I just thought of a funny scenario.

    Holyfield v Toney rematch.

When they first fought Holyfield was old, washed up and heading out of boxing.

Now they rematch and Toney has somehow overtaken Evander in the race to shotness.

    Not even remotely the same.

Mosley was still world class during the four years after exiting his prime. (which really ended with the losses to Wright, and had begun to end before he even moved up to 154lbs...with the absolute peak coming much earlier around his transition from 135 to 147...really he enjoyed a very long prime due to always being such a gym rat...)

In his mid to late thirties, from Vargas I until Mayweather he was still Shane Mosley and still world title caliber, if not the blink-and-you'll-miss-it lightning fast "power-boxer" he was in his twenties. His reflexes and work rate were still among the best in the biz.

For the last 3+ years, from Mora until Mundine today, nothing has been the same. Over the span of five matches his offensive ability has been wan, and he is twitchier now than ever before, increasingly hittable and liking it less and less. On each of those five nights he showed flashes of his old aggressive self (with the highest frequency levied upon Cano - a kid he barely squeaked by yet whom everyone would have considered unqualified to carry Shane's gym bag as recently as that period from 2006 until early 2010) but nearly every single opponent has punished him for it one way or another leading to him growing ever more trigger-shy. Mora punished him by spoiling and making him look worse than ever before or since in a god-awful mess. Pacquiao used his speed to show Mosley how much his own has eroded, punishing him by simply out-landing him and drowning him in flurries. Alvarez punished him by turning his aggression right back on him and landing flush counter punches, lower in quantity and velocity than Pacquiao but nonetheless discouraging. Cano punished him by willingly taking Mosley's shots in order to hammer the body and nearly sprung the upset. Mundine punished him by once again showing that size, educated movement and decent jabbing are truly anathema to Mosley. Whenever he flew at each of those five men throwing with bad intentions, something bad happened. (clinched and/or countered, made to overextend and look foolish missing, etc)

In his last few before Mora (Mayorga, Margarito, Mayweather) he was clearly losing a step but hadn't totally lost it just yet. By Mora, that step was in the æther.

Shiet, he was shot by the time he fought Mayweather too, even against Margarito, Margarito was just tailor made for Mosley who grew up beating on mexican fighters in Cali.

Mosley was done when he fought Collazo. Thats when i saw his biggest deterioration.

He looked especially bad against Mayorga after that.

Huh no, Margarita was never anything without his plaster wraps. The only thing Margacheato had was a chin, thats it.

Other than that it just showed the disparity of class.

Mosley was up and looked great vs Collazo in a fight he dominated.

The Mayorga fight was the fight that signaled to me he was done at the world stage.

Great fighters deteriorate. Great fighters well declined are only capable of having a great round, but not capable of putting rounds together and look good in multiple rounds.
With each passing fight, Mosley predictably is looking less and less capable.

I've been a fight fan for 33 years now, and the older I get the more it bothers me seeing the face of a once great fighter disfigured, and worst his speech slurred.
There's really no way to stop these guys from permanently damaging themselves and that just is bothering me more and more.
